Hotel la Piazzetta

Merida|0.18km from El Museo de la Cancion Yucateca
Great small hotel, well located within the Centro area, and within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants around the main square. My wife and I stayed in one of the garden rooms at the rear of the hotel, shrouded amongst cooling vegetation. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the shower and AC worked well. The lobby is cool and breezy and opens onto a small square where we saw several local activities (dancing, card fair etc) take place during our 3 day stay. We had no issues parking our hire car in the spaces bordering this square, and everything felt extremely safe and secure (as did the whole of Merida). Breakfast consisted of a continental style bread/cake, fresh juice, and delicious coffee each day which was all we needed to set ourselves up for the day, without spoiling our appetites for all the delicious food to be had in the city! What made our stay especially enjoyable was the (originally French) owner who is fluent in several languages including English. We found him engaging and friendly, extremely helpful, and he could not have done more to help us by recommending cultural events, bars/restaurants (we particularly enjoyed Bird), and even planning a Cenote trip. All the other staff were equally friendly during our stay - speaking a little Spanish helps. If you are looking for a comfortable, friendly, centrally-located hotel in Merida with handy parking and excellent service you will find it all here. Highly recommended!

We opted to get a room with two beds on the second floor, which was quite spacious and light. It was also away from the downstairs hub bub during breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom attractive with plenty of hot water (although as in other places we stayed, the water has to run a little while to get hot). I liked that there were lots of places to put things, and the room was a pleasant place to retreat to at the end of the day. There were several outdoor seating areas, which we took advantage of since I sleep a bit later than my husband, who jumps on his computer early. The location is quite good, within easy walking distance of the main square, Paseo del Montejo Avenue, and many restaurants. One in particular, just down the street called Urban Bistro is a find! We ate there twice in our three days in Merida. We had a couple issues with the breakfast - not getting our orders right, and not very good coffee. The staff are lovely and very helpful - several speak very good English, which was helpful.

Well hotel, I think the place is good for the price, the service equal was good, although I think they could improve some things: 1. - The toilets had a lot of saroso and that gives a bad image, I think they could focus more on their cleaning, the bathrooms as well had saroso. 2. - I think they should mention guests since they check-in the hotel is small and therefore everything is heard very strong, I mention this why we had a disadvantage with a family that started crying at 5:40am and ended up until 7:00: 00am even if it is noticed to reception guests have noticed, I think they should be a little more careful with these situations.
