I stay in hotels A LOT! But except for one other occasion, I've never bothered to leave reviews. But this place is one of the more questionable hotels I've stayed at for several reasons. The hotel: - they charged my credit card the full fee a day BEFORE I checked in. They have a 24 hr cancellation period with minimal one night charge yet they still took it upon themselves to charge me before I actually checked in - very unethical - they want a photo of government issued ID. Weird, with all the crazy data breaches occurring, it's recommended private entities DO NOT store this unnecessary data, yet they still expected a copy. I didn't provide it, just let them sight it upon check in - the pics used to promote the apartments are stretched out and misleading. The actual apartment is small, very small if you consider the costs incurred - photos online make it look like there is a bathtub, (and when I called the hotel to check, the person I spoke to told me there was a bathtub) but there actually isn't any which is VERY inconvenient when travelling with a companion who can only use a tub (for accessibility reasons) - they don't do housekeeping every day. You can ask for fresh towels but goodluck getting a vacuum or dirty bin emptied. The actual apartment - there is no ducted air conditioning. On a hot day (was 35° when I checked in) I needed to blast the AC at 18° (we froze in the living area) just so cool air can seep into the bedroom and cool it down so we can sleep - the actual apartment was very dirty. Tiles had previous occupants hair on the floor, carpet is stained in multiple locations, glass doors and outside balcony railing dirty with hand prints and smudges - minimal crockery and cutlery provided. Only one drinking glass provided - no tea towel provided - phone in room not set up. Had to call reception from my mobile to report issues - oddly there are very few electrical ports in the living area. Difficult to charge devices - there is no shelving in the wardrobe, and it's difficult to tidy anything up or pack things away. Only one storage shelf and you need a ladder to access it - the railing for the wardrobe is so high, one needs to be over 7 foot to use it - to access the bathroom, one needs to go through the bedroom so it's really hard to have one person stay up while another sleeps - the bathroom doesn't have a drain so any access water needs to be mopped with the towels to avoid a slip hazard (problematic as they only give you 2 towels and don't do daily room service) - there are NO clothes hooks in the bathroom The positives: Overall the staff were pleasant and friendly. Every staff member I spoke to in person was hospitable, helpful and very kind. The blockout blinds were good and the sound proofing was great. They also accommodated late check out. I felt very disappointed as I travel to Melbourne monthly and was very disappointed to pay premium costs for accommodation but get what I consider inadequate facilities. I'd only recommend s

We booked a quick trip to Melbourne for the footy. Because it was only 1 night we booked only a basic king room, and I also wanted to avoid a noisy 09 room. Arrived at reception to be informed they had upgraded us to an 09 room. I told the check in agent I did not want that room, despite it being an upgrade, and would be quite happy with the original room booked. She insisted on contacting the manager and they eventually moved us to an executive suite. This was a large and comfortable room, excellent bathroom and shower and comfortable bed. We did not notice any loud noise from Swanston Street from this suite. Quick trip up to the club lounge for a few drinks and nibbles before footy. Drink selection improved since our last visit and now a selection of spirits is available. Club lounge has nice staff. Breakfast there in the morning was also good. The club lounge has very nice decor. Will be back for 3 nights in August so hopefully will be as enjoyable.

This apartment was ideal - it had all you would need for a week long stay - washer, dryer, dishwasher. It was larger than my sons apartment in Canada Water in London. I could stream my own things on the TV - separate bedroom and lounge area. Safe in room. Plus a super unexpected bonus the room had a balcony. I would certainly recommend this to any traveller for short or longer stays. Plus there a lovely little friendly bar just a few minutes walk and Flinders station 10 min walk. If i come back to Melbourne i would stay here for sure.

Great hotel for first time visitor in Melbourne! Comes with kitchen, mini fridge, microwave, dishwasher and equipped with utensils where you can cook steak and make salads. Just make sure to pull out the exhaust hood to prevent the smoke alarm to ring. Bedroom was very comfy I did not get any neck ache and back pain. Aircon and heater is working properly. Bathroom was a shower on the wall you can’t pull it out. No bidet. No robes, toothbrush, toothpaste and hotel slippers provided. No breakfast. Housekeeping only per request or after 2 days of stay Location is walking distance from parliament building and Chinatown, lots of Asian eateries around. Hotel is located within free tram zone, tram is just a few mins walk right infront of the hotel. You can go to St. kilda beach, southern cross station and queen Victoria market taking the free tram. Hotel customer service was superb my mum even received a bottle of red wine and handwritten letter for her birthday! 🥳

Before I went to Melbourne, I had had the negative experience of Mercure in Thailand and I didn't want to choose it, to be honest, but I didn't have any choice because the price and location were better than other places. Wow. I was surprise because everything was unexpected I can say thanks to the hotel 1.The location is good and it is located in the CBD. Convenient transportation, lots of Asian restaurants, supermarkets and convenient stores. It is not far from the place I had to work. 2.The staff are great and helpful with service mind. Yes, I found a Thai girl staff who is really nice. We received the good service. Even though, the policy is they clean the room 1 in 3 days, but I was ok because we had to save the world. 3.The size of the room is small and the size of the beds were small too but enough for sleeping well and everything in the room was clean and function well. 4.No water bottles. I understood that we had to drink water from the tab. I was used to it because I knew it well, but my boss was not used to it and couldn't accept this. Please make the remark in the booking or put a paper in the room so that some people can prepare themselves for this culture. However, thanks for the milk in the fridge. Just positive experiences with this hotel this time. Thanks to you all

Excellent location. All branded shoppings & fine dinings are within walking distance. Hotel staff are extremely friendly & helpful. l would rate their service better than those from Park Hyatt Melbourne. Only complaint was the poor sound proof. l can hear noices from neighbouring room clearly. This is a let down that the hotel gotta look into it.

Would I recommend Holiday Inn little Collins...yes I would...but there were a few negatives to our stay Location is excellent close to Sth Cross Station and the free tram network. Breakfast included is a bonus and the selection was great. Hot sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, toast, cereals, pastries and mini muffins as well as the milk, orange juice, tea and coffee (with barista made at a cost by the reception/bar located in the same area. Staff were welcoming, helpful and pleasant. On the negative side I must add that during our 4 night stay housekeeping came the first morning. After that nothing so our wet towels sat waiting for collection. When calling for clean towels I was directed to collect them from reception. The next day we encountered the same issue...after leaving the room most of the day we returned again to find housekeeping hadn't been. This time when I called reception they organized to send a crew up pretty quickly. I expect the main reason behind this was they were fully booked with Manchester united fans in for the weekends game but as a mum the occasional opportunity to actually have someone tidy and replace towels is a novelty that I take full advantage of so was disappointed in this part of our stay. Beds and linen were clean but again housekeeping let us down with the floors...carpet had definitely not been cleaned in a while ...our socks picked up various dark long hair and bark/dirt..gross. One last issue was the invoice received for our stay..all good and as expected however $50.75 more was actually taken out of my visa. Having to make another phone call to have this explained was ridiculous. It's a bond...totally understand and it's refundable after the room is checked BUT why not add a small note to the invoice explaining this and save the guest and your team time explaining the extra charge?? Overall it was a decent stay and I would recommend but the issues above need to be ironed out quickly.

I recently stayed at Imagine Lighthouse in Melbourne and was blown away by the modern, stylish apartments and excellent location. The view from my Room at floor 61 was stunning and mesmerizing, I could see the entire city. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, with all the amenities like a Super Large Pool and well equipped GYM I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly. My special Thanks to Mr. KIT on reception for being a great Host and a Friend and providing great recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. Overall, I highly recommend Imagine Lighthouse for anyone visiting Melbourne.

Melbourne CBD Hotel Guide

Introduction to Melbourne

Melbourne, situated in the southeastern part of Australia, is the capital city of Victoria. Known for its Victorian-era architecture, extensive shopping districts, diverse food culture, and bustling arts scene, Melbourne provides an exciting mix of style, sport, and entertainment.

Tips for Travelling to Melbourne

Melbourne is serviced by two main airports: Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport, for international flights, and Avalon Airport for domestic ones. The city offers a range of public transport options, including trams, buses, and trains.

The official currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD), and most businesses accept credit and debit cards. English is the primary language. It's recommended to check Australia's visa policies as they vary based on nationality and purpose of visit.

Popular Attractions in Melbourne

There's no shortage of attractions in Melbourne. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Federation Square, and the National Gallery of Victoria are must-visits. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the Melbourne Cricket Ground, while those interested in wildlife should head to the Melbourne Zoo or the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.

Don't miss out on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel for stunning city views, or the Queen Victoria Market for a taste of local produce.

Weather, Best Time to Visit, and What to Wear

Melbourne, Australia has a temperate oceanic climate with distinct seasons, with temperatures ranging from winter lows of around 6°C (43°F) to summer highs reaching up to 25°C (77°F). Summers (December - February) are warm to hot, while winters (June - August) can get quite cold. Spring and autumn are mild and are usually the best times to visit.

Dressing in layers is recommended as Melbourne weather can change quickly. Don't forget your sunscreen and a hat for the Australian sun.

Choosing Your Ideal Hotel in Melbourne

For a luxurious stay in the heart of the city, consider the Langham Melbourne or the Crown Towers Melbourne. Budget travelers might prefer the Ibis Melbourne Central, offering comfort and an excellent location.

The Hotel Lindrum Melbourne offers a boutique, Instagram-worthy experience, while the Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Docklands is a great option for business travelers due to its proximity to the business district.

KKakapinguuuThis hotel is superb in terms of its location, this is just right opposite to the main train station and the airport bus station, which is just 20mins away from MeL airport, regarding on its location, nothing can ask for more. However for the amenities mentioned in the rating, we have requested to refill the fixed conditioner / shampoo/ shower gel bottle inside the shower area every morning, but until we check out, still no any refill, we have to simply use our own one, you May question why don’t we contact for front desk demandingly for the refill, you needa understand no one would like to waste any time n effort to deal with that stupid thing after a long day, but i have to point out i that, if a hotel could not handle the request promptly, this is a disgrace honestly. It is nonsense for a customer to keep on the request every morning

MmemdmaBeautiful view. Asked for higher floor room and they did happily did so. Arrived and asked if I could go up to my room for 15 and get changed and if it was okay to leavey car out the front whilst doing so and they happily let me do so free of charge. Valet parking is available at the concierge very nice people. I needed my car numerous times during stay so I opted out of valet parking and just used the south Wharf car park. When leaving the next day I forgot to get my parking ticket scanned at the hotel and went o leave and the car park was trying to charge me one hundred and 12 dollars. So I re parked my car (it was the far end of the car park so a 5 to 10 minute walk back to hotel. I told the young gentlemen my dilemma and instead of scanning my parking ticket he on his own accord walked with me to my car and let me out free of charge. Highly recommended hotel.

GGuest UserThe only shortfalls - My room did not service on the first night and requests took more than 20 minutes after second follow up calls. However, I appreciated the Duty Manager organizing the amenities and ensuring my room receives service on the next day. However, the next day I placed a card on the bed to request changed linen. But linen did not get changed, glassware has been removed from the room and did not replenish tea bags. Took 3 times to get it right. Positive side - i love design, location and cleanliness. It is a very challenging time for the hospitality industry to hire the right person for the right job. keep it up good work - Housekeeping. I hope my next visit will experience better service.

GGuest UserThe hotel is new and located inside a heritage building. The public areas were beautifully designed and we wish we had a chance to dine at the restaurant to enjoy the space more. Booked a Deluxe King Room which had a city view but the lower floors would’ve been facing a wall. The room was nicely designed and spacious, with enough space for two large suitcases. The bed was comfortable; a bit on the soft side, but much better than some other hotels we stayed at during our trip. The quality of the sheets could be improved though as they were rough to touch and not the silky smooth you’d expect at a hotel. The bathroom was a bit small but still nicely done. More importantly, they proactively did housekeeping (which we’ve unfortunately learnt is not a given on our trip) and the front desk were professional and accommodating.

GGuest UserThe staff members were great! They were attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome—the highlight of our stay. The location in the heart of the theatre district is also terrific. The elite lounge has kind of an odd setup, but both breakfast options and evening appetizers and drinks were plentiful and tasty. Water pressure in the shower was a trickle, and our 2 double beds were comically close together—maybe 15cm between them. Overall, though, it was a quality Marriott experience.

EEDDY ORBASEThe place is okay. I had a good stay in my room. They’re kinda strict with check out time tho. Few minutes before check out time at 11, the staff went to the room to remind me I have to check out and I asked her for a few minutes because I had to shower. When I went back to the room, my key card doesn’t work anymore. They already locked it for me because it’s check out time. I won’t go back to this hostel. Tho I had good breakfast at Howm.

GGuest UserStayed here as a Diamond Ambassador in an iconic suite - Check in experience was great, warm welcome, benefits acknowledged and welcome drink provided. Amazing room, ridiculous amount of space, comfortable bed, great little office/working area. Unfortunately, the general level of service/care factor is lacking especially when staying in a room costing over 1k a night! One of my complimentary water bottles was open/used and about half empty, yuck. Later that day I wanted to use my $25 credit on the minibar 200ml bottle of gin (which is listed as inclusive of 4 mixers). Gin was missing from the mini bar I couldn't find it. Called down to reception to ask if it was by request, they assured me it should be there and would send someone up. Waited 2 hours and no one came which frustrated me as I was waiting so called down again and was assured someone was on the way. Someone did arrive with a huge bag full of everything except the gin. When questioned didn't seem to know what I was talking about, I had to point to it on the minibar menu and was met with a very confused expression, he left. Then about 30 minutes later a different person arrives with the gin bottle, success. However upon checkout there were a bunch of mini bar items charged which I hadn't consumed, and in fact were not even missing. I hate having to have that conversation but after only 3 words they were ”happy to remove them” which makes me think this isn't an uncommon occurrence. I later noticed that the mixers were charged as well where as they should have been included with the gin purchase cost, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time to try and sort it out. Club lounge service was attentive but did fill up and get quite busy in the evenings however my drink was always topped up and the staff there were friendly and engaging. Temperature control seems non-existent in the room and I'm convinced it makes no difference what you set it to. I had my do not disturb on until mid morning, so as I was leaving for the day dropped by reception and said I may have missed housekeeping and could they have someone make up the room. Arrived back a few hours later and it hadn't been done. All up a real mixed bag here, but can't help feel my simple requests were a bother and inconvenience.

GGuest UserOur first part of our experience was with Cameron from the Service Team. There was an issue in our room 0804 whereby the air conditioning was not functioning and blowing constant hot air ( over 25.5 degrees ) into the room. Cameron was promptly on the scene and explained what he was going to investigate however after a very warm night he himself made all the arrangements with Lisa on the front desk to move us to another identical type room 1304 and assisted us with the move. Cameron's attitude and proactive actions were first class. Well done Cameron. We were on a 4 night prepaid package however after 2 nights we received some distressing news in relation to a critically ill family member . I went down to reception in a very distressed state and spoke with Lisa on the Front Desk who was very empathetic and understanding and could not have been more supportive. Lisa then went and spoke to her Manager and returned and advised that I would be contacted by Luxury Escapes re the situation and our cutting short our holiday . As fortune would have it we were able to get flights back to Sydney that afternoon, got back to our home and off to the hospital to spend 45 minutes with our family member before they passed away. The empathy and personal approach taken by Lisa will remain with me forever at such a critical time in our life. Finally we received an email from Luxury Escapes which stated that Novotel Melbourne on Collins had refund half our prepaid fee and agreed to adjust the package to 2 nights instead of the original 4 nights. The hotel did not have to do that , especially considering the urgent exit we had to make so I thank the Hotel Manager Lisa spoke with as he/she has made that decision . We will be coming back to Melbourne when life gets back to normal and after our experience there is only 1 hotel we will consider staying in and that is Novotel Melbourne on Collins.
