We're avid travellers and love to stay at "5* hotels monthly". We wanted to stay at a hotel we didn't need to leave. Heres my honest review... Aesthetics/Decor: Beautiful on surface level. Lacked small details in room and bathroom such as bog standard tiny shower rooms on ground level with windows covered with tiny covering where anyone can seek through. Cleanliness: When we arrived at our garden room, the pillows outside were stained, there was food left from previous guests. There is an infestation of flies which probably come from the gardens where they grow veg and use manure? It stinks of sewage at every single pool side. How are we meant to relax with this awful stench and getting zapped by flies every minute??? 5* hotels recognise fly infestations as a pest control issue and manage. We've been to hot destinations where they spray to avoid. Isn't this what a 5* hotel is meant to do? Food: Probably the worst I've ever had. No exaggeration. There are no menus. You get only one option for lunch or dinner unless a veggie option. So it doesn't matter what your dietary requirements are. There was a 2 year old child who didn't have anything appropriate for her to eat for lunch, the mother asked for a block of cheese and scrambled eggs!? Every single lunch starter was a salad. On the last day I begged for something else. I was served prawns with prawn poo in it. I didn't want to complain, I took it out. Again, a 5* hotel would never. We asked between meals if we could have biscuits or cakes to have with a tea as we were starving everyday. Request denied, apparently they didn't have any? What about the bits from breakfast? Offer that? Nope. Faults: Leak in the shower, floor was flooded daily. Partner cut his foot. Need First aid. Oops they don't have first aid box. Again, a 5* hotel would never. Staff and Service: The staff were friendly and just did their best to be honest. Cant fault them. They tried. We booked via Mr and Mrs Smith and was meant to have a bunch of red roses upon arrival and bath products. Nope. Nada. Didn't get a thing. I just felt it wasn't worth £400 a night price. If I knew I would've just booked a visit to check out aesthetics but not stay there.

Lovely hotel, great rooms ours was a large pool room, extensive but slightly barren gardens, many pools. Good service although they are very structured in their meal schedules. Fires jn bedrooms which were lovely but the most impressive part was THE FOOD, in the evening, excellent and the dining room is stunning! Owned and ran by z french couple which explains the good, a set menu but excellent and cater for gluten free.

A chic Moroccan oasis with the most sublime cuisine… probably the best food I’ve tasted and much of it freshly picked from the gardens. Each room is comfortable with tasteful and considered decor designed and curated by founder Meryanne. A real family affair, the gardens are ecologically designed by botanist Gary, Meryannes husband and the eclectic and exciting playlists mixed by their daughter Thais. The whole family take time to welcome each guest and the team at Janane Tamsna are equally welcoming, efficient and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again soon… wholeheartedly recommend.

“Jnane Tamsna is my cherished haven in Marrakech, a place I’ve frequented for years, and it never fails to amaze me. The design is an artful symphony, marrying tradition with modern elegance, creating an ambiance that’s both soothing and inspiring. The culinary experience is a feast for the senses, where each dish tells a story of Moroccan culture and flavors. The staff, with their genuine warmth and hospitality, have become like an extended family to me, always ready to ensure every moment is delightful. But what truly makes Jnane Tamsna exceptional is the community it fosters. It’s a place where wonderful souls converge, creating a vibrant tapestry of connections and friendships. Thank you for consistently offering an unparalleled retreat that feels like home, yet continues to surprise and delight me with its magic.”

I am sorry to write this but i do not know how this is a 5 star hotel. The ‘hotel’ of this size should really have a more generous lunch time menu as cabs into the city are very expensive - our room was extremely basic and not at all luxurious - breakfast was nice - ate lunch one here which was nice - if you need anything you need to WhatsApp the very nice concierge - all in all a nice stay but it should not call itself a boutique luxury hotel.

We prefer boutique luxury hotels and have stayed at dozens around the world: after an 8-day visit, Jnane Tamnsa is one of our all-time faves. Highlights: 1) delicious, healthy cuisine serving fruits and veggies from the property’s own garden, 2) the love and stewardship that the owners and staff have for their land, 3) beautiful, spacious, tastefully appointed rooms and decor, 4) friendly, helpful, eager to please staff, 5) generous, gracious hosts. For activities, we enjoyed short walks around the property and longer ones in the nearby desert. They have a gorgeous clay tennis court and arranged for a local pro to come hit with us. They have a yoga teacher who will come to the property, although we didn’t end up doing that. We loved lazy afternoons by the pool—even in December it was warm enough to sunbathe. The concierge is well-connected: they arranged everything we needed quickly and reliably, including taxis, dinner reservations, and a shopper/guide to show us around town. The Jnane Tamnsa team is focused on ecology and sustainability. They grow most of their own food and re-use every drop of water. The property is an easy 20-minute drive into town. While we initially wondered if we should stay in the Medina, we were ultimately glad we chose this serene, relaxing property.

I stayed at Jnane Tamsna for 4 days with my two daughters (8 & 11) and we had the most incredible, beautiful time. The entire hotel is absolutely exquisite, with beautiful artwork and unique artisan pieces collected from all over Morocco and Africa. There’s a real sense of everything being specifically chosen and organic/unique in origin. The interior design is so deeply soulful and considered, it felt like walking into an exotic, super luxury magazine. The food was INCREDIBLE, and a lesser known but incredibly wonderful fact I learned was that they organically grow all their own produce. A genuine farm to table hotel! To sit at night surrounded by candles and fire pits, beneath the full moon, listening to the call to prayer, with palm trees silhouetted against the night sky, was a memory I’ll carry with me forever. Jnane Tamsna really is a literal treasure trove of colour, beauty, and experience, with incredible food, luxurious and unique rooms each with their own personality, and staff that are at your beck and call with the utmost professionalism and friendliness. Oualid and Ameen were two particularly regular staff members with fantastic English, who dedicated themselves fully to my kids’ experience, organising a camel ride, a brilliant tour guide for the Medina, endless offers of hot chocolate and tea for us all, and even remembering the girls’ favourite ice cream flavours, offering to amend the meal options to make sure they enjoyed every second. They swam for hours each day in the heated pools, and evenings were spent cosying up by the fire, even in our bedroom which was really the most immersive and wonderful experience - falling asleep listening to the crackling fire. Pure magic. Waking up to endless sunshine and desert views was surreal in the most wonderful of ways. Another thing I’d like to add is, contrary to what many in the UK said I should expect, as a single woman travelling alone with my two girls in Marrakech, I’ve never felt safer ANYWHERE. Even in the middle of the Medina I felt genuinely safer and more respected and welcomed than I felt at the local petrol station when I got back to the UK. From Meryanne and her family who welcomed us so spectacularly to their hotel, the incredible staff, the drivers they arranged for us, the guides chosen for us, the whole experience from start to finish, was underpinned by THE most beautiful, humble, welcoming and generous spirit I’ve ever met. We will definitely be back. We’ve only just got home and we are already planning our return trip. It felt like a true home from home, with friends made for life and comfort and luxury the likes of which I’ve not found anywhere else in the world (and I am very well traveled!).

I was brought here one evening for dinner as a surprise for part of my big birthday celebrations and I was blown away. Jnane Tamsna is absolutely stunning, a mystical place. The venue has been done up so beautifully and tastefully. The whole place is filled with candles and flowers with tasteful art that keeps in line with the beautiful theme that's everything morrocan. The host was waiting to accept us on arrival and we were given a tour of the grounds and then taken to our dinner table. The owner sits at a table where guests are and kindly says hi to her visitors and is very welcoming. Her story and journey is totally inspiring as I had the pleasure to speak to her last night. She is truly charming, sweet and makes great conversation. The food was wonderful, a good variety and of high quality. It was nice to not have to pick food and try new dishes. The dining area is stunning with olive branches that cover the ceiling. The gardens are filled with olive trees and bogan villa it's just breathtakingly beautiful. A real highlight was meeting the couple who own the property on the day I'd gone back for my photo shoot. Gary is a down to earth philanthropist and so humble. We found him at the property walking the dog and showing us which amazing plants he had been growing. Meryanne a former Solicitor turned architect was full of beans and friendly, a true inspiration. I can't wait to go back! I'm hoping to stay as the property is amazing. I'm also very much looking forward to getting inspired and having a coffee and cake with the lovely owner either in Marrakech or England soon.

We visited this beautiful spot as day pass guests and couldn’t have been happier with the perfect surroundings and chilled vibe for a relaxed day away from the medina. The space is just exquisite with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The pools / lounge areas / delicious lunch was exactly what we needed. Perfect. It was an unexpected surprise to have Meeryan the owner come and chat to us which was lovely. The staff were great - Ouilid in particular went beyond and above by managing to locate a pair of trousers I left by the pool (I only realised when I returned to our medina riad later that evening, and dropped them to me the next day). We were so grateful. A wonderful spot and would love to return and stay.
