Riad Dar One

This place is an enigma. Excellent location, great roof terrace, comfortable beds, and spacious bathrooms. However, to be bombarded by multiple emails prior to arrival for (overpriced) transfer from airport, welcome first night (overpriced) dinner, and excursions, plus repeated requests for arrival time, which was answered four times, was disappointing. Mediocre breakfast, lighting in bedroom that was too dim to read, and broken light in bathroom which was reported several times, but not fixed. The staff we encountered was a mixture of over friendly and disinterested.

First class service, beautiful Riad, amazing people, organising airport transfer, meeting us on arrival, helping us with our stay in Marrakesh as well as our onward trip to Essaouira. Breakfast was lovely, room (at top with private patio) was incredibly quiet despite the central location of the Riad. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely stay again.

Our good experience with Dar One began shortly after the September 2023 earthquake to inform us that the Riad was not damaged and still open for business. They regularly sent us emails to keep us informed. Because Dar One is located within the maze of narrow alleyways of the old Mellah District, prior to our scheduled arrival, Dar One provided us with instructions for our taxi driver and a phone number for him to call, so Dar One's staff could meet us to carry bags and escort us to the Riad. The Riad is charming; the staff welcoming and accommodating. Our rooms were attractive, comfortable, and very quiet. We were provided with an excellent map of Marrakech that permitted us to navigate the rabbit-warren of streets and alleyways to explore the Mellah and Medina and to visit nearby historic sites such as the La Bahia Palace, the El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Jewish Cemetery, etc. The breakfasts consisted of fresh fruit salad, traditional breads/pastries, and delicious honey and preserves. The cafe au lait and tea was also excellent. Our delicious dinner of lamb Tajine was beautifully prepared and elegantly served by the fireplace, since the evening was cool. As part of a two-week small-group tour of Morocco, we also stayed a couple of days in a modern hotel in the newer part of Marrakech, which was quite nice and comfortable. However, having time to spend on-our-own in a unique historic accommodation like Dar One was a special opportunity to experience the unique character of Marrakech.

A beautiful little riad close to the Bahia palace and other attractions. We ordered a taxi through the hotel and this was really easy. When we pulled up by the Bahia palace Hakim was waiting for us and showed us down the small streets to the riad. Hakim is very attentive and keen to ensure all his guests are happy - he is very helpful and will offer suggestions of places to see. The rooms in the riad are all well presented. We had a twin room and the sirocco room. The benefit of the sirocco room is the large private balcony above the room itself, which has fantastic views over Marrakesh. Breakfast is always good - a different selection each day brought to the table. Food in the hotel is available and I very much enjoyed a meal one lunch time on the terrace. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in - ever! We were met on arrival and taken through a short warren to the oasis of the beautiful Riad. The smells were amazing and the hotel managers went way above and beyond. Room was fantastic, breakfast was by far the best we’ve ever had in a hotel and the dinner was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Location was perfect, 2 mins from Bahia Palace and 5 mins walk from lots of other visitor attractions. There were lots of restaurants close by too. I seriously cannot recommend this Riad highly enough.

As a family with two young adults, a what a memorable amazing trip. I would highly recommend the evening meal which was amongst the best meals of our trip- and the standards of food/restaurants in Marrakesh is extremely high! The manager Abdul has brilliant local knowledge and recommended great bars, and restaurants and hammam spa - even a private cooking class which was a highlight of our visit. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, particular shout-out to Hakim, who was so kind and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend Riad Dar One, it’small, authentic and in a quiet area but within walking distance of the bustling medina.

Do not be alarmed when you are meet and taken through a hole in a wall then down various alley ways to the hotel, once in side a charming surprise awaits you. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful they made our stay memorable, a short walk takes you to a small square with numerous restaurants

The Riad is beautiful, well decorated and right in the heart of the Medina. Everything is walkable from there. The breakfasts are excellent and the service is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We had a fantastic stay at Riad One, an oasis of peace and tranquility in the bustling heart of Marrakech. The property has been recently renovated and features an elegant and refined design, with a touch of modernity. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and have all the necessary amenities. Abdul and his entire team were very kind and always willing to meet our every request. They also organized a delicious Moroccan dinner on arrival with an excellent value for money. The breakfast was also delicious. The rooftop is a perfect place to relax. The sunbeds are comfortable and well-positioned to enjoy the sun or the fresh breeze. The location of the riad is excellent, just a few steps from the Bahia Palace and all the tourist attractions in the Medina. In conclusion, a stay at Riad One is an unforgettable experience that will allow you to experience the best of Marrakech.
