The Hotel Santo Mauro invites you on a journey in Madrid in the 19th century, at the home of the influential Duke of Santo Mauro. With its French-influenced design and architecture, our 5-star, historic hotel in Madrid consists of three buildings set in a sophisticated private garden, with fountains and terraces shaded by ancient chestnut trees. The guest rooms are full of special details and historical references that immerse you in the past. Each public room is unique: The Red Room reflects pure French Classicism, while the oriental pieces in the Chinese Lounge recall the objects the Duke used to collect on his travels. The Wine Bar offers an extensive list of wines and small dishes, while the main restaurant, housed in the Duke's former Library, offers a level of cuisine commensurate with its palatial setting. Music, fresh flowers, arts and crafts, and highly attentive service from the household staff round off the unique experience of staying in a palace.Show More

Very exceptional hotel with big rooms and great staff. But there were downsides like: there was no Gym. The location is not good for visitors. There was no buffet for breakfast although price was high

You can sit outside or inside the library room for breakfast. It's nice to take pictures and delicious. The environment is very good and the service staff is also good. But the room is a bit small and the price is on the high side.

First time to stay at Santo Mauro. I’m a very particular person and this place exceeded all my expectations. The moment you arrive at the door you are greeted with the most wonderful people from the valet/doorman Richard, Carmelo, Elena at the front desk, Sylvia and Javier at the restaurant. The restaurant uses Christofle silverware. The bathrooms have Byredo products, the bed linens are the most comfortable sheets. I can’t say enough good things about this particular hotel. You just have to experience it your own. We stayed at room 201. It’s their suite with marble dining table for 6 people and a living room enough to entertain a small group. The property is located in the Chamberi area which is considered as one of the safest and high end neighborhoods in the city. This hotel used to be the private residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro.

If I could give this property 10 stars I would. Every aspect of this boutique hotel is first class. The property is exquisite. Every room is unique - beautifully appointed and thoughtfully equipped to cater to a guest’s every need when far from home. Guests are pampered in every way. Also, the location is spectacular- this cozy little gem is nestled in a quiet neighborhood far from the noise of the tourist areas, yet close to shopping, restaurants, the metro, etc. Uber and cabs are easily accessed as well. A bellman is always quick to assist. By far for us the most wonderful aspect of the Santo Mauro is the staff. Hands down one of the pleasant, attentive, and hospitable group of professionals I’ve ever encountered. Every person is treated as if a guest in their home. Their only mission is to ensure you have the most comfortable and enjoyable stay. While every person we encountered displayed the highest level of professionalism, we would like to recognize Carmello and Palermo for going above and beyond for our family. The Santo Mauro’s hospitality is second to none, and I cannot recommend this property highly enough. We will definitely be back.

It is very hard to condense in a few word our stay in Santo Mauro. EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING has been perfect. We stayed in this hotel as we wanted to treat ourselves for a few days before and after our wedding... well, the team went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and memorable. Everyone was really helpful and willing to make our stay special, and they definitely succeeded. The rooms are from out of this world, the beds are second to none, the service is superb, and the details and attentions the staff had with us will never be forgotten... and I could go on and on and on. Thank you so much to the whole team for making an already special day even better, we will definitely come back for our wedding anniversary!

we tried to have a drink at the terrace the person in charge did not allow us even to talk everything is for the guest. We areneighboard we said and when you need the table we will go. No he said It was a really bad experience and a bad treatment for a customer. The hotel is full and it is for the guest. so I told him you have to be careful because you also need customers when the hotel is no full. Bad experience DO NOT TRY. BAD TREATMENT. ana milena

I reviewed this hotel 8 years ago and my opinion hasn't changed much, although this time we stayed in a premium deluxe room, which was very nice and overlooked the front entrance. It was quieter than our previous room because there were two doors between us and the hallway. The bathroom was large and had a huge (enclosed!) shower. The bed was a little soft, which might be a problem for some. There was turndown service with chocolates at night. There was a frig with complimentary water and a coffeemaker. The closet and drawers were in the dressing area and there were plenty of hangers. The TV still doesn't offer news service in English and, in fact, didn't seem to have a connection half the time so we just gave up. This time we also ate breakfast every morning because it was included in our rate. It was table service, not a buffet. Good, but not great, with a fairly limited menu. The service was always very attentive, though. Too bad the same couldn't be said for the service in the bar which, once again, was just abysmal. We waited 20 minutes for our scotch and sodas, then another 20 minutes for them to be replaced because the waitress brought scotch and water instead. Then we had to ask for the tapas (nuts/olives, etc) which are usually served with the drinks, but hadn't been for some reason. It was just painful. We also ate dinner at the hotel in a private room with a group of 20 and, there, the food and service were both very good. The location in still great for visiting museums, as the Sorolla Museum, the Archeological Museum, the Prado and the Reina Sofia are all within walking distance.
