I had been looking forward to this hotel for a long time and we finally managed to go during May half term. I went with my 3 children we had a suite which cost £400 a night. Firstly the view!!! Wow it is spectacular. Unfortunately I feel the hotel relays on this view and is lacking in so many other ways in the hope the view makes up for it. Good points The view! Food was lovely - steak and duck for supper were awesome. Children’s meals were super reasonably priced and breakfast was awesome. Staff- the gentleman in the restaurant was really nice and very sweet with my daughters. Children - was worried that my children would feel out of place as had read it was a couples place but nearly everyone had children. Only a few couples. Negatives The place is VERY dated to the point of being threadbare. It needs a general renovation. I usually enjoy staying in character properties which step back in time but this had stepped a bit too far. Dirty- our room was really dirty from stains on bed sheets to a lot of mold in the bathroom especially the shower. We didn’t have any bottles of shower/ conditioner / soap, shower gel just a multi pump soap thing like they have in travel lodge and when you pay£400 a night you expect more than travel lodge. Two towels between four and three pillows between four. We requested more pillows / towels 3 times but they never appeared we used jumpers for pillows in the end. Some really random design features we had pretend stained glass windows in our bathroom which were stuck on bubble wrap. Which were peeling off with mildew all over them. It really saddens me to leave this review but we were really disappointed in our stay here.

Spa was lovely, it has a whirlpool, sauna, steam room, showers and heated beds. Its beautifully decorated and has view of the lake. 5 stars, highly recomended. We had dinner after in the resturant. The view is amazing and the tables are positioned to take full advantage. The menu looked good tho the waiter did say if you want anything extra you have to order for the sides which was the first warning sign. When the food came the portions were extremely small and some items seemed to be missing off the plate which we were told were in the sauce. Some of the vegtables were undercooked. The plates were charged at 18 pounds upwards very overpriced and incomplete meals without the sides.

A truly wonderful location, rooms with superb view of the iconic lake, but hotel just in need of a bit of tlc and (acknowledging it was busy) needs a review of guest service / responsibilities / staffing levels in bar and restaurant / only one guy with ordering iPad but he seemed overrun with also seating guests, clearing tables and waiting food.. Tables were piled up with plates with nowhere to sit, queues for breakfast and dinner check in. Food was decent, just service was slow and difficult to get waiters attention.

We went to this hotel for a 2 night stay as part of our 10 year wedding anniversary celebrations. We absolutely loved it. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is charming, welcoming and a real gem. The birdsong in the evenings and first thing in the mornings is really lovely. Our room was magical. We had a 4 poster bed, huge balcony with uninterrupted views of the lake which was stunning at sunset. We ate in the restaurant for 2 nights for dinner and the food is honestly wonderful as is the service and a very good wine list too. The views from the restaurant are breath taking and the restaurant manger is friendly and professional with excellent customer service skills that we sadly don't see very often anymore. The reception staff are lovely as are the spa staff. Breakfast is excellent and honestly we the most marvellous time. We feel that the hotel did all hey could to make this stay special for us and can't thank them enough. We opted for the mini moon "deal" and thought it represented excellent value. We are already planning a return trip!

We had an amazing weekend at Lake Vyrnwy. We had a garden view room as this was a last minute booking. The room was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hotel keeps the charm of it's Victorian origins so don't expect everything to be modern but we loved how comfortable we felt there. The gardens are stunning and worth a wander around. The staff are amazing and made our stay even better. The food was delicious and served overlooking the lake. And then there are the views over the lake and you are perfectly placed to walk, cycle or drive around the lake which is stunning. My husband had a go at clay shooting which was fun and he hit some too and we both enjoyed the spa which was very relaxing. Overall a lovely place to stay and get away from the mad modern world and we will definitely be looking to go again. Kaye and Ant

Lovely stay at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel! The room was very big and spacious, with arm chairs, TV, huge bathroom and a beautiful view of the lake! Staff were very friendly and inviting, and the dinner and breakfast service was great. Food was delicious and well worth the price. Loved the chilled atmosphere!

Hospitable hotel in a beautiful location. Requested at the last minute if a service dog could come along and that was no problem at all. A complaint about a badly running drain was remedied in no time. Breathtaking views from the room and bath.

Called fir lunch in the restaurant. Had to wait for ages before being seated, wait another age for order to be taken. Had to ask for cutlery. The food was great but the service was appalling. Although the waiters were nice, when they eventually came, the place is seriously understaffed and this impacted greatly on our overall experience. As we are locals we have been here many times but feel that this venue has gone seriously downhill since our last visit.
