It is a lovely hotel and very well located in Limerick city's centre.
The staff were amiable and very competent.
Breakfast, always a good benchmark, was good, but not great (bacon was obviously cheaper quality cuts), and here's the rub, it was very very expensive, as was everything else about the hotel, and indeed the country in recent years!
For price and value for money, the hotel falls very far short. In short, the Limerick Strand Hotel is a rip-off compared to hotels of a similar standard in many other countries. Everything was extra including parking, and breakfast, I do believe breathing fresh air would have cost if they could manage it! Also, another minus, they were somewhat devious in the way they presented so-called 'discounts' for breakfast etc... and that was really annoying.
After last evening's experience, I can honestly say that I would never spend money on a holiday in Ireland so long as there are any other venues left on the planet that aren't on fire:-)
Rip-off Ireland is indeed alive and well!!!
