My first stay at THE CROSS HOTEL was the most satisfying night of my trip to Japan, with many experiences excelling in the details! First, the location is excellent, very close to BAL, and it's only a 2-3 minute walk to the hotel from the bus stop. I bought a package including breakfast for two during Christmas, and it was less than 800 for a night. The breakfast offered ample Japanese and Western options, and although it was small, it was delicious and filling. I didn't fully experience the hotel's facilities, but the room design was more thoughtful than The Gate Hotel, where I stayed afterward. There were a reasonable number of hooks for clothes and towels, which was convenient for guests. The wet/dry separated square bathroom even featured an onsen-style shower and a bath, plus a water purifier next to the sink. It was also very quiet at night, and the staff handling check-in and check-out were the most warm and approachable. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

I'd really give it one star if I could. The location and overall facilities are decent, though. But for Chinese guests... they pretty much only give rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor. And the windows are sealed, some even face another building's wall. It's essentially like having a windowless room. Talking to Trip.com customer service was useless; they just said there were no other rooms. Couldn't even get a room with sun exposure. How is that possible in a large hotel with nine floors and hundreds of rooms? While I was talking to them, I saw a Japanese couple get a room on the 9th floor. And the cleanliness... seriously. There was dust and hair. They still wouldn't change my room. Of course, the biggest issue I absolutely couldn't stand was being stuck in a connecting room. This hotel, no matter what you say, will not change the room they've assigned you. Honestly, despite the good location, I'd strongly recommend choosing a different hotel.

Exceeded expectations! For autumn foliage season, this price and environment were truly excellent. The location is super convenient, very close to Kamo River, Kawaramachi, and other shopping and entertainment spots. I especially loved the Takase River behind the hotel, which also has tons of great food options: sushi, yakiniku, ramen, izakayas, convenience stores – you name it. The room was spacious by Japanese standards; even with a 26-inch suitcase, it didn't feel cramped. The bathroom and toilet were completely separate, and the bathtub was incredibly comfortable – I soaked in it every night of my three-night stay. The hygiene was top-notch, the bed was comfy, and they had everything you could ask for: clothes deodorizer, Dyson humidifier fan. The hotel lobby and exterior decor were stunning, looking out directly onto the autumn leaves and a flowing stream. It truly left me with wonderful memories of this trip.

I always love staying at Cross Hotels, and this Kyoto branch is no exception – absolutely fantastic! It's in a prime location in Kawaramachi, making it super convenient to get anywhere.
