Asantewaa Premier Hotel
4.2/536 Reviews
I've stayed in many places in Ghana, but Asantewaa Premier has to be one of the best! I had an airport pickup and was greeted with fresh coconuts! ( I requested this). I had a smooth check in and was greeted with polite front desk staff. I was also impressed with how fresh and nicely decorated my room was. The room was cleaned daily, the sheets were fresh and bedding was well made with towel made swans. From my experience in other hotels in Ghana this was the best bedding I had, it was extremely clean and fresh. The shower was also a really good size with a spacious shower and good water pressure. I enjoyed the daily breakfast, especially the fresh made pineapple and ginger juice. In the evening I enjoyed drinks at the Asantewaa premier bar, the bartender made me a good cocktail for me and my wife. I also enjoyed having dinner at the Asantewaa premier restaurant where I tried traditional Ghanaian food for the first time, as a Carribbean I was very impressed! I also enjoyed the traditional Ghanaian music that played in the bar during the day and at night the music and atmosphere at the bar was nice. I requested a tour guide before arriving at the hotel and the tour guide was friendly and took me sight seeing in Kumasi. He took us many places such as a Kente village and a place where they show you how to make ink from trees!! I also requested to have my clothes pressed and was very impressed with how quick and well done it was. The staff overall were very polite. I'll be staying here again when I come back to Kumasi and honestly if you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable and relaxing stay then Asantewaa Premier is the one to book.
Frederick's Lodge
4.3/551 Reviews
Review on Frederick's Lodge: I am an average white South African female, who traveled solo to Ghana, Kumasi for the first time in my life. I was greeted with a welcoming and friendly face at the Kumasi airport and we drove a scenic root to the lodge. I had to get cash for the everyday expense and the manager, Nana, kindly escorted me to the nearby mall and made sure I felt safe to draw money at the ATM. My room was lovely and the aircon in the room was a bliss. Daily housekeeping ensured fresh towels and a neatly made up bed and restock of the beverages. The fresh fruit at breakfast was great, I loved the exposure to the local cuisine, which is very much for the chili and hot pepper lovers and not for the salt only kind of girl. Never the less the food specially prepared for me was fantastic. The local bear was a good compliment after a long and hot day. I like good quality linen on my bed and I was very pleased with the quality. Review on Kumasi: I used an E-sim, but I think it would be best to get a local sim and get a data package from MTN. Bolt worked great, I never had to wait longer than 5 min for a ride. The area is safe, the locals are super friendly and everyone is welcoming and service driven. The Shoprite in the mall is a good supermarket for getting what you need. The trip into town to see the local market, was an experience, I suggest get a local to accompany you. It is a busy place and getting there and back will be challenging without some assistance. Learn a few words in their local langue Twi, it goes a long way and you will be liked even more, if that is at all possible. Overall experience of my work trip in Kumasi: It was great, I loved every second I was there. I can def recommend Frederick's Lodge for accommodation and meals. Hope you enjoy the lovely Kumasi, like I did. Thank you Nanna and staff for your labor of love, it shows and it is appreciated. Veronica Kramer
