Well, I would rather start with the following — that was the WORST vacation in my life. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I’m not a writer, I don’t really like making up long-reads, except for when I feel really emotional. In this particular case I felt, I really felt that way. The audacity of presenting it as a 5-star hotel is just unbelievable, it’s not even 1. But let’s tell everything in order. Renovation thing. They were telling something about huge differences after they renovated this hotel. That’s a straight-up lie. The only thing that was done is new wallpapers (which stick off from the walls everywhere and in some places are even covered with stains or mold, I felt too gross to double check). The rest of it — ACs, toilets, showers, sinks, a half of the walls that wasn’t covered with cheep-ish wallpapers, furniture in the main hall, pool ladders, balcony doors (I’ll get back to this later) — is clearly outdated and needs to be replaced ASAP. The hotel is falling apart and it’s been only two months since opening. Strange, right? What’s more, they’ve apparently decided to leave as much as they could from Lyra Hotel, so you’re going to encounter Ancient Greek vibes everywhere. It’s a really strange mix of cartoon giraffes and “love”, “smile”, “hope” posters on the walls. Looks like they’ve been covering holes or something, the first impression was ruined. Air Conditioning. My biggest pain, while staying in Turkey every summer for five years, this felt like a silly joke. It looks like a dirty grille and works the same. If you enjoy when your room feels like sauna with +35 C outside, this place’s definitely for you. We set this terrifying thing at +10 degrees and max power, and it just didn’t work properly (for comparison, in previous hotels I set AC at +25 degrees and felt cold). When you lie in a bed, you can feel a sliiiiight wind, and the moment you step out of it — it’s a heat wave. I can’t even count the times I’ve complained about this inaffective, non-functioned thing at the reception point and to the guest relations manager, they don’t seem to care at all. What’s more, in general we applied for a repairman 6 times, and at the 6th time they tried to convince us that we’d never complained about that before, because they didn’t have any records in their system:) One night, a hilarious thing happened — there was a problem with electricity, and this mechanical monster started to breathe hot air. When I entered the room, I thought I would die instantly. After going downstairs to confront with reception staff (again), I saw a crowd that was yelling at them using all languages possible. It turned out that an immense number of people had the same problem. Their answer was, “well, no electricity, don’t know when fix this”. I had a sleepless night that day. It was the most outrageous thing during my vacation ever. And they could NEVER fix this, because nobody can fix it, it was supposed to be replaced BEFORE opening this season. Ma

Stayed here for 8 nights as a group of 7, prior to arriving I had read very mixed reviews but I like to make my own mind up as everyone has their own options likes and preferences. Now I am not a fussy person what so ever and don’t expect a holiday to go exceptionally perfect but I’ll do an honest option of our time at Sunmelia. Transfer from he airport was around an hour and 40 mins in which we had a 15 minute stop off for a toilet and smoking break , we went past a few busy areas on our route however arriving at the Sunmelia in dark it appeared there didn’t seem much around. This is correct , your pretty much in the **** end of nowhere , there is a ***** of markets and an Armadale down the road but in 40 degree heat it was too far to walk so we got in a taxi, taxi cost 5 euro each way as everything is in euro on this side of Turkey, we usually go to altinkum so are used to lira, we used lira on the whole of this holiday however the locals don’t really like it, a staff member told us this is because the Turkish can change the euro and get a better exchange rate meaning they are making extra money, if you prefer lira stick with it they do take it everywhere. If you like to venture out in an evening for food or drinks it’s a 25 minute taxi into the main resort which was 20 euros each way. This side of Turkey seems expensive compared to what we are used to over in altinkum, we nipped into side old town one evening for food, the old town it’s self is stunning but again we found it more expensive than we are used to in Turkey and one meal out cost over £250. Cocktails are around 12 euros each for those who enjoy a cocktail. The weather all week was 40 degrees so the air on in the room was very welcoming , it works well but will cut off as soon as you open the balcony door. Wifi in the hotel worked mostly everywhere however cuts on and off constant unless you’re in the lobby bar or reception. The hotel - the hotel itself is lovely however the guests are awful, rude arrogant. I’ve never experienced anything like it in Turkey before and I go Turkey pretty much every year but as I say I go the other side of Turkey , there is very few English there and it appears they are the only ones with manners, no one seems to know the meaning of waiting your turn and pushes in constant , guests leave their towels out on the sun loungers the night before which I haven’t seen before either so if you want a decent bed by the poolside your needing to be up at 7am , there is plenty of sun beds to go round though but everyone goes for the poolside ones. Food is typical Turkey food and doesn’t cater much for English , my family didn’t really enjoy the meals however I had no issues with any meal and enjoyed them all except breakfast , that’s a complete waste of time going to unless you like mincemeat topped with fried egg or chips. The donnor meat they do in the evening is delicious. The poolside snack isn’t great it’s hotdogs that are cold or some donut type th

One of our best stays.. We were considering the comments before making reservations, and I need to say that everything was beyond our expectations.. We’ve had some special requests during our stay and all the staff met our expectations and made sure we were comfy. Guest relations girls, y’all were awesome. Another special thanks to the Operations Manager, dear Aras Haider. He was polite and gentle enough to check up on us ever day :)

We have just came back from our holiday... all I have to say this hotel not even near 5* hotel... We enjoyed the holiday until we got the food poisoned. We were family of 4 and we were vomiting after 2 days of our holiday. I don't eat that many cakes but I have tried 1 carrot cake, but other members of my family had a few slices of cakes. So we are not sure what has caused the vomiting... but we have been told not to eat cakes by one friendly Georgian guy at the bazaar, but kind of it was too late ... Lucky enough there was a pharmacy 5 minutes away from the hotel and the pharmacist was very helpful! Funny enough my husband went to the pharmacy two days later after our incident to get something else for his mum, and he met a couple from Washington hotel. Unfortunately, they have also experienced unplesant stay and were seeking for advice from food poisoning 😕. Definitely, there is a problem with food at this hotel...!! The problem is they put out the cakes and fresh salads at 5pm but the dinner served at 7pm, so all left outside for 2 hours prior dinner time. (See the photo taken at 4:56pm and the cakes were already out) There are lots of flies around and food can get poisoned easily if it's left outside for too long! So, be aware of what you eat there. It seems like there is not enough management in this hotel to control everything. Also, there are lots of German people staying at this hotel, and the majority of staff are speaking only German. And, only a few people speak English. There was one rude guy at the bar by the reception and seems like he was never happy... On a good note there are plenty of food choice but my advice eat only cooked food and stay away from the cakes and fresh salad. But if you fancy a cake or biscuit there is a patisserie open between 11am-4pm and all cakes are stored in the fridge. However, we are not sure if it is the left over from the day before... So be aware! Suggestion: The hotel needs to get fridge to store the cakes, salads and milk during the breakfast/lunch/dinner time to keep the food fresh and prevent food poisoning. We reported the food poisoning case to the reception but nothing has been done about this... However, they tried to make up to us and brought a basket of fresh fruits and wine to the room. I don't think we will be back to this hotel again as it was unpleasant experience. We have been to Turkey a few times now and this was our first food poisoning... We stayed at 3* and 4* starts hotels in the past, and it was much better than this 5* stars Hotel. We would not give more than 3.5* stars to this hotel.
