We had a fantastic visit to Pemba Eco Lodge. We visited as 3 friends and were the only guests staying at the time. Omar (the assistant manager) looked after us from the moment we arrived, leaving flasks of tea for us upon waking in the morning, organising any trips or activities we needed and being extremely friendly and professional throughout. The location is absolutely breathtaking and is one of the most naturally gorgeous places I have ever seen, with crisp white beaches and amazingly blue sea. The place really is paradise. The lodge itself is well stocked, with comfy beds and a good working shower. The only potential downside are the eco toilets and slightly dim lighting, but this is to be expected based on the rural location of the lodges and eco nature. The food was fantastic throughout, and was fresh and flavoursome at every meal. We would recommend it as a must visit to anyone visiting Tanzania and Zanzibar. The manager Masoud was also readily available and extremely helpful and accommodating in resolving any queries during the stay. Thank you to Omar, Masoud and the team for our amazing stay!

This is a place to dream, recharge your batteries and reconnect with Nature. I assume the people who gave a bad review where expecting a Club Med type of experience. Pemba lodge is an eco lodge with solar energy and rain water. You become very aware of the impact we have on our planet. You won't have loud music or actually any kind of noises other than the wind or birds. The staff is super professional, they took care of all my needs. always kind, cheerful and very respectful. I am a solo female traveller and felt safe and protected the entire time. Take the opportunity to engage with the local community and expand your horizons.

Incredible to find such a spot in the middle of nowhere… comfortable rooms, delicious food, wonderful beach and breathtaking paths to other white sanded beaches, boats and snorkelling of course… plan minimum 3 nights..! Use the new ferry from zanzibar OR Tanga, check at Mkoani port for transport to shamiani..

This is a wonderful and special place - well-run by a keen and friendly team. The location is sensational, the white sand beach perfect, the fresh fish for dinner amazing, the sea is bath-warm and clear. The rooms are in thatched cabins and have all you could need - very clean and comfortable. This isn’t a basic lodge but nor - thank goodness - is it a bland tourist enclave. We loved it. The people on this site who didn’t would be more at home in a boring Hilton hotel somewhere - keeping this place for the rest of us who like to explore.

An incredible lodge in a secluded part of Pemba. You really feel like Robinson Cruso. Plany of activities available but you pay seperately for everything even kayak's. Staff were great but struggled to keep up with room service, water ran out in units occasionally, we had to chase toilet paper and soap but nothing major. Staff seemed overworked and manager wasn't always engaged.

I have been here in November 2022 with my wife for a weekend. A friend suggested this place to us, but I never imagined it was so beautiful. I state that I have been living in Zanzibar for more than a year with my family. it was just me, my wife and two other guests we didn't know. We arrived late afternoon by boat, because it is on an island, the manager welcomed us very friendly, explaining everything and answering to our questions. Then he drove us to our bungalow. It was clean, simple but neat, and wide. it also has a terrace from which we could see the following day that there is an excellent view of the sea. The staff is friendly and the kitchen is super! Much better than the cuisine in hotels in Zanzibar. I suggest snorkelling at turtle bay, a small beach 10 minutes walk from the lodge, or by boat. There you can admire the beauty of colorful corals and underwater plants. Some are stinging.

Unlike other travellers, we did not have the idyllic experience at this lodge, despite our expectations and excitement. On the contrary, we were rudely awakened when we arrived at our cabin, dark, skew and in our opinion unsafe, desperate maintenance needed etc. Further to this disappointment, they did not honour the original booking condition of "paying the lodge directly", they debited my credit card without permission, which is unethical, dishonest and fraud. On top of this, they claim we were "no shows" despite the fact that we were at the lodge and spoke to the manager Masoud. This experience, unfortunately, soured our holiday which should have been "a once in a life time". I wish I could have said we would recommend this establishment, based on our experience but I can't.

The ecolodge has a really special spirit and is in the middle of an incredibly beautiful island. Food was really nice and the beach is something from a movie. I would highly recommend and hope to go back soon.
