We ended up staying at the Valle as an afterthought, after cancelling our bookings with a couple of other resorts in Munnar and Idukki, and discovering this beautiful place quite by accident. A relatively new place, there weren't a lot of reviews or feedback to go by, and whatever little we found was glowing in praise for The Valle. Eventually, this turned out to be one of those serendipitous decisions that worked out very well in the end; one we definitely didn't regret! The Valle is located at the end of a 10 min uphill drive from a detour off NH85, on the way to Munnar town from Idukki, on a secluded but decently maintained path curiously called KSEB Tunnel Road. Even though we drove there ourselves, we didn't have too much trouble finding the place, but remember to download maps of the area since cellphone coverage throughout the area is very dodgy. The resort itself is located at a truly beautiful location, a vertically aligned structure beside the valley, much like a lot of resorts in and around Munnar, but remember to book the valley-facing rooms, the view is worth it. The rooms themselves are very well appointed, and thankfully air-conditioned - we visited during a particularly warm spell and needed the extra cooling. Largeish rooms, with large screen TVs - the set top box in our room didn't have updated subscriptions but we never turned on the TV anyway, so even though the solution was maybe a call away, we didn't really care! There were complimentary fresh fruits, local chips and welcome drinks for all, toiletries and disposables that were replenished without the need for reminders. The room also comfortably accommodated a rollaway bed. I have a personal issue with the large picture window allowing a view into the bathroom - I can't relate to the ro***ticism associated with watching your partner do their thing in the bathroom, but that's just me. Thankfully roll-down blinds quickly restore the privacy that a bathroom deserves. The fittings and fixtures in the bathroom were of high quality, the lighting a little quirky but adequate. I only wish the hot water was more regular and consistent... and if the resort team is reading this... 43°C does not qualify as "hot" water for most people 😉 The balcony became our favourite place during our stay and although the slatted windows were a weird design choice for an air-conditioned room, they also allowed the occasional bug into the room. Catering was first class, and both kitchen and serving staff deserve a special mention for personalization, attention to detail and responsiveness. Not a single request, however exotic, was denied and the team went out of their way to keep us happy and extremely well-fed. They even brought us a birthday cake exactly at midnight! Both buffet and à la carte options were varied and expertly cooked and presented. Dessert in particular was good enough to put some well known patisseries to shame. Snacks and high tea were offered every day, but we didn't really get to
