Camlux Hotel

Hung Hom and Kowloon City
The hotel sits in the industrials area of Kowloon East so it’s not close to the metro or major bus stops. Well, given this room rate, you need to pay an effort to walk for about 7 minutes to the major bus stops. There’s also no restaurant nearby so make sure you get takeaway or eat before you return to the hotel area. The hotel room decor is of modern light industrial style with a nice choice of tones of colours of the wall and furniture. Amenities are rather new. However, there are two things that make the stay experience a little disappointing. There’re areas in the room that harbour dust, especially the bathroom door, the table top above the refrigerator and some parts of the wall. Your clothing items would collect if you accidentally place anything there. What stunned me was that they were strict or I would say stingy about giving bottled water to guests, which I have never experienced in any hotel in Hong Kong. At other hotels I’ve stayed in, I can ask for extra bottled water when I needed or they had filtered water dispensers installed in the corridor. (Foreign travellers must pay attention that not all water pipes that lead to the tap are clean and some could have unwanted metal deposits. At Camlux they provided only two 700+ ml bottles of water and each extra bottle comes at $12.

Kwun Tong
Location a bit far to Kwun Tong MTR. Most eateries close early and even shops in apm close at 9 pm, cannot believe this is Hong Kong. The reception was helpful as I had to leave an envelope for a friend in HK to pick up and they were helpful. Hong Kong really needs exceptional service more so now as even ;pca; HK people go to ************** for better variety of shopping and food.

Kwun Tong
Although the hotel is near an MTR, the MTR station is quite a distance from typical attractions (eg. 25min ride to Mong Kok). Slightly underwhelmed by the room size as I thought it will be bigger than imagined but it’s still slightly more spacious than the usual rooms you get near Mong Kok for the price. The double bed is the size of 2 super singles put together which fits a King size mattress atop which is spacious. Hotel is kind enough to provide a baby cot FOC although a bit disappointed that we didn’t receive anything else as we are celebrating our wedding anniversary at the hotel - we didn’t specifically request for it too so can’t fault them as well. The breakfast is pretty sumptuous.

This hotel is functional and the room spacious. No restaurant inside but there are some eateries (but low-class). It's situated in the industrial and commercial area, very local. Metro station is 10 mins away by foot. As the price is grear, I will pick this in future. Staff nice and helpful. Guests are mainly mainland Chinese.
