Shangri-La Hotel Hohhot

The room isn't very big, and the facilities are average, but the view of the stadium outside the window is quite nice. The Executive Lounge dinner was excellent, especially the red velvet cake, which was delicious, and the sticky rice strips were very authentic. Breakfast was abundant, with particularly tasty lamb shaomai and delicious purple rice porridge. I really liked the hot milk and soy milk from the large pot. I also surprisingly discovered that the plain whole wheat toast was incredibly good when toasted – the quality of the bread overall was great. The S-shaped staircase and circular pool in the lobby are beautiful, and there are two yurts set up for photos. The elevator area is very elegant, though the glass around the buttons easily gets fingerprints, which detracts from its appearance; I'd suggest more frequent cleaning. I was initially upset when someone cut in line during check-in, but thankfully a wonderful manager promptly assisted me, and I'm very grateful – she was professional, stylish, and highly competent. However, some staff at the front desk and in housekeeping seemed a bit green and inexperienced.

This hotel is located right in the heart of Hohhot, making it super convenient for getting around. I chose a suite for our family of three during our summer trip to Inner Mongolia, which also included catching a Zhou Shen concert. The hotel even upgraded our room for free! We also got to enjoy the executive lounge's light meals, which pretty much took care of dinner – that was fantastic! I'll definitely stay at Shangri-La again next time.

When I first arrived, I thought the hotel room looked a bit dated and lacked smart features (lights/curtains/toilet), but after staying for a while, I found it quite comfortable and the service was good, so I decided to extend my stay.

The room was spotless. **Cleanliness:** Very clean. **Lobby Mongolian Yurt Photo Op:** It was incredibly unique, and lots of people were taking pictures there. They have a delivery robot that brings takeout right to your door. The front desk service was excellent. **Facilities:** The facilities are great, and the breakfast was delicious.

The hotel's location is convenient, the environment is elegant, and the hygiene is clean and tidy. The service attitude is warm and thoughtful, and the facilities are complete. The food is clean, hygienic, and offers a wide variety. It was a pleasant stay.

How do I even begin to describe this hotel? It's hard to put into words. You can't say the service is bad, because for any feedback, the staff will just smile and say, 'Okay, we'll pay attention next time.' Before I came, I read reviews saying the hygiene wasn't good. My first night's room was okay, but to my surprise, when I checked in again on Thursday and Friday, the room was really dirty. The door felt sticky, and the luggage rack was greasy. I saw the hotel's replies to other guests saying they'd do a deep clean, and this is the result. Their attitude is: 'Okay, we'll pay attention.' Their action: none. Facilities: I paid 5-star prices for a budget hotel room. Hygiene: The second stay's hygiene was not good at all. Environment: Its only redeeming quality is the decent location. Service: The concierge service was the best in the entire hotel—everything else was lacking. Basically, if you come to Hohhot and there are no other comparable options, you're just stuck staying here.

I specifically want to call out Tina Wang Min at the front desk for her extremely poor attitude. The staff couldn't even manage basic communication etiquette or efficiency. I waited almost 5 minutes just for a simple room check-in, and there was absolutely no communication during that time. Does it really take an email to headquarters to get this issue resolved? It's hard to believe a legitimate hotel like this has such chaotic management and handles conflicts so poorly.

The environment is clean and tidy, and the service is warm and thoughtful. The scenery is also nice. There's free parking and a gym. There's also a kids' play area, which, although not huge, is enough to keep children entertained for half an hour. The executive lounge is a highlight. It's pretty good for kids to have some fruit in the afternoon, play with blocks, and read picture books, while adults can sit and enjoy a drink. The shower in the room is also a highlight; it's very practical. I suggest adding more Mongolian elements to the decor.
