Esperides Resort Crete, the Authentic Experience

This was our first trip to a Greek island and we loved every minute of it! In fact it was so good that the first thing we did when we got back home was to book a return trip to Espirides for later in the year 😀The resort was wonderful, the room was spotlessly clean, the staff are all really friendly and helpful, (special shout out to Angelos and Chantel who were amazing) The village is lovely with lots of restaurants. We stayed half board and on most days we had breakfast and lunch then ate out in the evening, but a couple of days we went out during the day so had our evening meal in the hotel (the flexibility to do this was great, you just notify reception on the day). Food was great, with a different theme each evening, always lots of choice, and a lovely salad bar, and fruit section. There’s 2 outdoor pools, we used the smaller adults only pool every day, and there was always plenty of sun beds available. Can’t wait to return.

Great resort! We had perfect holiday as a family with 2 kids. Stuff were friendly and welcoming, the place is very clean and well maintained. The food was varied and every dinner was different and delicious! The service at bars was outstanding 🍸

This has been the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It is beautiful and the surrounding areas are so well kept and maintained. Everything is perfect. We are currently here on holiday and do not want to leave. I’m writing this from the stunning private terrace and jacuzzi area attached to our elite open plan room. The cleaner is here now tidying and making everything smell wonderful. You will note maintenance staff and cleaners are all over this hotel keeping it looking immaculate. The pool areas are pure luxury. The beds are so comfortable you’ll want to stay all day. It is off season but there is no fighting for beds or people hogging them with their towels all day. There is no need. It is very chilled, very relaxed. The pool towels are supplied by the hotel for free, no deposits. Pool bar staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. There are two pools here, one is adults only located near the main buffet restaurant area and the other is the activity pool. There are bars at both, with the activity pool having a lovely swim up bar. The room we have is an elite open plan suite and is gorgeous. Other reviews have mentioned small dark rooms however I am very grateful that ours is not like this at all. It is room 218 and is in a perfect location near the gym and the activity pool. The only slight negative of our room is that we are staying here with our teenager and preteen and the open plan bathroom is not the best. The toilet and shower cubicles have glass frosted doors so although you can’t see right through them, there is little privacy. This may be a problem for teenagers who are very private but fortunately my two are not bothered 😂 The Bath is also located in the main living space. Your room is stocked with toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities and also water so no need to bring from home or buy water. We are staying half board so have breakfast and dinner included. We are happy with the quality of the food. We are vegan at home but eat vegetarian abroad as it can be difficult to get vegan items however there has always been an array of plant based milks and soya yogurt. Plenty of fruit and vegetables also. Dinner times always involve the standard pasta, chips and pizza for my fussy teens but they are delighted with this and look forward to meal times. I am happy with the variety of veggie options although small there is plenty of fresh salads and fruits and veg for me to eat. Staff again are very friendly and attentive. I guess it’s not surprising that no one has reviewed this hotel gym whilst here 😂 the open air gym has a pretty decent set up. I have continued training throughout the holiday and there is a good rig with squat rack and pull up bars, TRX system and wall ball target which they don’t advertise or have pictures of on their website. 4* HOTEL Friendly attentive staff, pleasant furnishing, quiet, nice pools etc. All round middle ground 4* hotel. Areas for improvement- the FOOD- this is not up to standard, frozen veg, soup in plastic bowels, no carved meats, as well as overall standard not even close to 5* standard. You can't add edible flowers and pretend you are delivering 5* standard cuisine. If you are someone who likes to swim for exercise the pools are not conducive to that, size, shape wise. Not bad enough to put off most travellers but for guests really wanting a 5* standard hotel, this is not the one.

Just returned from our first time in Crete and a week staying in the beautiful Esperides hotel The staff are amazing, the hotel, the rooms, restaurants, pools and bars are spotlessly clean and the food is exceptional The staff go out of their way to make everything first class and are just so friendly We will definitely be returning as soon as possible I think one of the best resorts we’ve ever stayed in Excellent and well worthy of its 5star rating

Perfect stay - Excellent service & nice rooms. Good value for money. We were only there for one night but the next time it will be more :-). All staff were great with kids as well and the room with jacuzzi and seperate terrace with sea view was amazing.

This will be our third time returning to your hotel. The hotel is clean modern. The staff have always been professional and kind. Good variety of choice for breakfast, we haven’t had lunch or evening meal at the hotel, the village has many wonderful restaurants Food around the pool is of great standard. I’m curious to what beach you take people too, we normally walk to Stalis sun beds for a family of four is about 20 euros Taxis both ways 24 euro , although this isn’t the closest beach.

As below we also received notification from jet 2 about charge for shuttle bus and sauna steam room . This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel which people are paying a lot of money to go to . These services should be included in price (as advertised when we booked ). Very disappointing . Will not be paying for shuttle bus or sauna .

We are due to travel in July and just been notified from Jet2 that the hotel now want to charge us 30 euros for 2 people to use the shuttle bus down to the beach, we are a family of 4 so 60 euros for 10 days 600 euros.. totally unacceptable, just been on the phone to Jet2 to complain, please if you are travelling to this hotel with Jet2 ring and complain. We are waiting for a call back from Jet2 management. I will NOT be paying this. To have the hotel to change this at the start of the season when previously it was free and advertised as such is appalling , to think customers are just going to except this is shameful.
