So I stayed here a few nights (twice) on business, it's tucked away down a side street nothing outstanding in terms of appearance, it's just another building, with some hidden charm - Staff, attentive and very pleasant, it's got a pretty cozy bar, small but cozy. Sundays seem a little under staffed, but give credit where it's due, the staff work hard to service your needs. Rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed, it does not feel too outdated, it's not 2023 but it's warm and friendly, some rooms come with a fridge, some not. Beds are comfortable and bed linen is top drawer, nice set of toiletries in the bathroom, and the rooms are spotlessly clean, even if a little outdated. Room service is available and is pretty darn good!! I like room service after a busy and long day, and it did not disappoint at all. Prices are extremely reasonable, especially if you compare to a similar holiday inn that boasts 4 stars, the H4 wins hands down on price and quality. Would I go back - most definitely, what attracts me the most..... the price and the room service, to be fair location was close to my business so that was not a major factor for me, however in saying this, there is a well appointed mall and many restaurants nearby and some decent food stores for those midnight snacks...... The beautiful, large lobby, which reflects the long history of the hotel is hugely impressive whilst the rooms are stylishly modern. My room had plenty of room for storage (often lacking in many hotels), a very comfortable double bed and an immaculate, well designed large bathroom. Breakfast offerings were exceptional and it was good (and rare) to be able to have items cooked to order. The lobby cafe/bar was pleasant but service was disappointingly slow. Although these are difficult times due to the pandemic, it was a great shame that the restaurant and bar were both closed. Given that most other hospitality premises had reopened in Hamburg, I found it odd that the hotel had not been able to open them and had not publicised that fact more openly on their website.

The hotel appears to be quite new. It was comfortable and nicely located midway between the railway station and the commercial/retail centre of the city. Our only concern was the shower floor which was, we thought, dangerously slippery.

Sometimes we are in hotels where you somehow get a strange feeling right from the moment you check in. You don't feel comfortable and welcome. The Courtyard Hamburg City is one of them. It started at the reception during our very early check-in. The staff member told us in a supercilious manner that we had received an upgrade. But the ”better” rooms had not yet been cleaned. But because we were getting an upgrade, it would certainly be worth waiting for the room. Our question about when we could expect the room was only answered with the statement that the actual check-in was at 3 pm. We could go into town in the meantime, it's not far and we shouldn't come back too early - 3 pm. We could leave our luggage at the hotel. There is still room for improvement! And so there were a few similar little things during our stay. None of them big issues. But just a lot of little things where you keep asking yourself: ”Why? Why don't they just do it better?” The stay ended as it had begun. After our online check-out, we discovered that the bill was not correct. However, this was corrected immediately after a complaint by e-mail. No comment. Without apology or the like. A word about breakfast, as there were many comments on this: The restaurant in the hotel is run by an outside company. This is not noticeable at first glance. Nevertheless, this constellation has disadvantages. For example, the restaurant is closed one day a week (breakfast is of course available all week). Is that a good thing for a hotel? That's something everyone has to decide for themselves. But now to breakfast: Cost: 25 Euros, if not already included in the room rate. The breakfast is extensive. Nevertheless, there are some things that are not there. For example, freshly prepared egg dishes. Here, you are treated to prefabricated fried eggs, scrambled eggs and the like, some of which look rather adventurous. There are also no pencakes or waffles. On the other hand, there is a large vegetarian/vegan corner. Most of the dishes are of very high quality, often even organic or Demeter. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly. The ambience in the restaurant is also quite good. Is the breakfast now worth its 25 euros? Yes, because the restaurant is run by a third party and the operator also has to earn money. Yes, because the ingredients are of very high quality. Yes, because the selection is quite large. No, because certain things such as egg dishes prepared on site are missing. No, because the selection is large, but not outstanding. In our opinion, a price of 19 euros would suit the breakfast better.

This was my first visit to Hamburg with a friend as a short city break, coming from the UK. This hotel was perfect to meet our needs which was to have a) a good location, b) a comfortable room, and c) a decent breakfast. I would recommend the hotel for other tourists. ROOM: Neat and tidy with comfortable beds. The bathroom was also of a good standard. 5/5 LOCATION: Located a 5 minutes walk away from the main train station and a 10-15 minutes walk from the main square and town with bars and restaurants. 5/5 BREAKFAST: A nice selection of different continental offerings, very modern and clean environment too. 5/5 SERVICE: Very smooth check in process with room cards working as expected. We were even provided with a free pass for ALL Hamburg buses and trains (U and S). This was an unexpected benefit which meant the trip back to the airport was covered. Staff were helpful and no issues to mention 5/5 If you are looking for a well located place to stay as a B&B in Hamburg, this hotel is a good option.

Excellent location, Messburg U-Bahn literally outside the door. Very friendly, helpful staff. Early check-in not a problem. Relaxing and quiet bar to enjoy a drink before heading out for the evening. Very clean hotel, rooms to a very high standard. We had a corner room so huge window and lots of light. The bathroom had a walk-in shower which was great. Felt like excellent value @ under €70 per night (not including breakfast). The one negative (which did not warrant a complaint as we were otherwise very satisfied with the room) was that the 'double' bed was 2 single beds, 2 single mattresses, 2 single sheets. I actually fell though the 2 beds one night and was lucky not to be injured! But as mentioned, we were otherwise delighted with the corner room so did not want to move. Will happily return again in future.

We did one night stop on our way from Berlin to Billund, the hotel is far from the city center but that´s not our goal this time so the location was good for us. The room was clean and a note was left on the bedtable saying ”Welcome enjoy your stay” which was nice. Breakfast was crowded ( in elevators you can find rush hours of breakfast ) and the staff barely had control at some point. Breakfast had good variations for all of us. The parking lot was located in the basement and you could walk straight from there into an elevator. All in all, clean hotel with great staff and fine locationif you are not planning on spending alot of time in city center.

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights 21st June / 23rd June and my stay was faultless. I had booked a single room, but was upgraded to a double. The room was very large and spotless, with a lovely bathroom with a large walk in shower. The breakfast was excellent with many hot and cold choices. The breakfast room was lovely and the staff were always clearing away the used plates etc. The staff at the check in were always smiling, and were extremely polite. I have to say the breakfast staff were the same. Be aware that the room key envelope also caters for your free travel ticket. This is one of the best Hotels I have ever used. Other Hotels could learn from this Hotel, re how it treats their guests. A faultless stay...well done to all members of staff.
