Very nice old-school German hotel. Don't expect a modern American-style kitchenette or even an elevator. Room was nice and breakfast every morning was stellar. The location is excellent.

This hotel is based in one of the expensive areas of Hamburg, so any hotel here is priced above other places. The hotel is very traditional, and for what it is, it's great. It is based in an older building, and as such, it shouldn't be compared to modern hotels, although it tries to compromise between old and new. It provides a traditional stay, with a lovely breakfast and airy, big rooms. The dining room was once a restaurant before covid, but they had to compromise cost wise, and one has to bear this in mind for the hotel in general. It does what it is supposed to do very well, and all the staff are lovely. It's not family run, as per prior reviews, the lady that owns it also runs Hotel Blankanese and the staff are a mix of random folk, all very nice, most speak good English. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and the tube station is 600m away, it is very well positioned. There is a Rewe close by, that's the German version of Tesco, it's at the back of the tube station and down the stairs. The TV's are quite small, no English channels, but you can change Nickledeon and the Comedy Channel to English via the settings on the tv. If you are getting surgery here, the showers are quite small and have a step into it, but the hotel is very well positioned. There is no elevator, but you can get a room on the ground floor. There are elements of the hotel that could benefit from some small updating, but it is very clean. Reception closes over night, and extended check outs are possible, but paid for at expected rates. No kettles and extras here, like I said, you pay for the area and tradition here. All in all, if you are a fan of tradition, you'll like it here, and it functions ok as a modern hotel. All the best to the staff and thanks :)

This is a very basic hotel and as such it is not bad, although the towels are a disgrace. Good location, free parking. Interior a nice reminder of the seventies. The problem is with the management and their computer system. When trying to book rooms for our golfing team emails were not answered. I tried to contact them by phone, this was a disaster, although I speak German quite well. The man answering the phone explained that his boss handled emails and never answered them. We booked a large room for three and finally got a confirmation. When arriving, this was not available. After a lot of thinking by Manuel behind the desk and a longhaired assistant who offered unhelpful suggestions they remembered that that was one more room for our son We were assured we would pay the price for the imaginary family room. After paying the bill I was summoned back to the desk as Manuel had made a mistake. During the paying procedure I had observed that this happened often to him. I returned immediately, ready to correct his error.I was asked to pay nearly twice the amount I had already paid ( which had been more or less what I expected) . This seemed unreasonable. My objection led to profound consultation of the computer, with no result. Finally Basil the manager arrived, all flustered. First he suggested paying the original amount, which was withdrawn. More studying the computer. Once more asking a price that did not match the maximum price for two rooms, he threatened with the police. Never had he been so insulted in his life. When I once more explained ( in German) that he could not ask more than the normal price for two rooms but that, to let us finally leave the hotel, I would pay what he asked ( which was 150 euros extra),Manuel presented me with the paying machine indicated 285 euros extra, which I refused. Basil then consulted his ancient calculator and came up with the price for two rooms, which was 50 euros above the amount I originally paid. I paid immediately and we could finally leave Behrmann Towers .

Very clean and comfortable room. Our room had a balcony which is always a plus for us and the breakfast had many choices. It is in a charming section and very close to a rail station, just a short walk.

My stay here was spoilt by difficulties from the beginning . First of all there was no e-mail reply to my booking enquiry to confirm my room rate or how to access my keys when the reception desk was closed . This caused me problems when I arrived , but I got in after a friend called the number ....My room rate they had been told was 85 Euros/night , but in the event my almost illegible bill said it was 100 , which came as a shock on departure day , because the hotel had assumed there was 2 people in the room , so breakfast was charged for 2 rather than for 1 .My room was a double , but was rather bare inside , with no drinking water even , which is not what you expect on the Elbchaussee ..... There are bistros nearby such as the Rio Grande just opposite when you need an evening meal . So to summarise , my bill was much larger than I expected , and as my wallet had been stolen earlier , and having to borrow money in order to try to pay my bill , I didn't have enough to cover it , which I settled by agreement the next day from home . The administration here is lax , which is a shame . You have been warned .

The hotel is simple. The room was functional and very quiet. However, it was not cleaned in the morning.
