Château Saint Gilles

We needed a place to stay for a few days in Bayeux as our tour group was planning to visit the Normandy WW2 sites. This Chateau was exactly what we needed after experiencing the busyness of city life in London and Paris. This place is nestled in the countryside of Bayeux. The buildings and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. It is very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious with all the needed amenities. The choice of wines and beverages was very good. The food was EXCELLENT. The vegetables are grown on site and are fresh. There is only one washer and dryer, so if that amenity is needed you may need to drive into town. We absolutely loved our stay here and if we’re ever back in this area, we WILL return. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property, excellent rooms, very clean, top notch staff who were very friendly helpful and accommodating!!! Cannot rate this hotel and our stay any higher… one of our best experiences!!!! Grounds were extremely well maintained and inviting!!! Breakfast was delicious!!!

1. Checkin wait was at least 20 minutes while we just stood there with nothing offered to us on a hot day 2. Overall the room was small, dark, and cramped 3. Nice bathroom but goofy lights that in order to go to bathroom at night, bright lights automatically came on in the bathroom that leaked out to the bedroom and therefore interfere with your spouse’s sleep. 4. Beautiful courtyard that we wanted to have a beer in after long checkin procedure, told staff we would like 2 cold beers and after 30 minutes had still not been delivered 5. Due to delay in getting our beer.., I went back to room to get 2 beer out of mini bar … there was only one there 6. Thought I would at least split the beer with my wife, top came off easily but I’m Canadian … thought it might be a twist off. Poured beer into a glass in the dark and took a sip… disgusting taste. Spit it out. 7. I believe a previous guest probably drank beer and refilled it with gross water to avoid cost of minibar. Best guess because top came off so easily. Room was too dark to notice look of fluid. 8. Informed receptionist after he finally arrived with our earlier ordered beer.,, tried to be as nice as possible to him as knew it was not his fault previous guest too cheap to pay for beer 9. He said he would call his manager 10. Manager response was “every so often the beer goes flat” … ha 11. Manager offered us a free beer in response 12. TERRIBLE INCIDENT with an even WORSE REDPONSE

From arrival, we were met by the owner with a smile and a genuine family style welcome. The grounds were magnificent. Can’t say enough good things about the staff, food, and accommodations.

From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the enchanting beauty of the chateau. The decor was nothing short of amazing, creating an atmosphere that blended elegance with comfort. Each staff member we encountered was the epitome of friendliness and helpfulness, always going above and beyond to ensure my ourstay was delightful. The food was excellent, Dining at the chateau was not just a meal; it was a memorable event. The gardens were a serene oasis, perfectly manicured and inviting. It was our favorite spot to unwind, sitting back with a refreshing G&T in hand, surrounded by nature’s beauty. This chateau is more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination that captures the heart. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

We were so impressed with the level of service. Very friendly and helpful staff. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. There were 10 of us staying there and we all love it. The rooms are pretty big and the grounds are beautiful. We would highly recomend.

Unbelievable place from an infrastructure view point. The grounds were wonderful and there were so many features so please plan accordingly. The best part of the stay were the people. Everyone works so hard to make it a wonderful stay. We had one dinner and breakfast there. The food was very good! I highly recommend this place.

We arrived tired and stressed following a long journey from the South. Our greeting was welcoming and friendly. The place is serene and quiet. The rooms are lovely and face the garden. At dinner, we were taken care of by Violaine. She was professional and capable despite being the only waitress in the bar and dining room. Good breakfast, but we groaned at the self service coffee machine. Apart from that it was wonderful and we would stay again.

The Chateau was old world charming with all modern amenities. The service was amazing and the countryside is beautiful. The food was delicious. 10 min from Bayeux and WW2 tours.
