My husband and I went to this hotel during our honeymoon. It looked great online, with 5 star ratings. On our first night there, we had no hot water. There is a rainfall shower and a shower attachment in the bathtub. We spent the whole day outside and were looking forward to a shower. The water was cold int he rainfall shower and barely lukewarm in the bathtub. We called the front desk, and a man came by and said our options were either cold showers tonight or to shower in the spa. The next night, we requested a different room in which the showers were hot. We were then told it was a problem in the whole hotel and they were trying to find us a room. They gave us a handicap accessible room, which would have been fine except the toilet was in the shower. We requested a different room, and the hotel agent confirmed the water would be warm. I was very excited to have a shower, and I had 2 minutes of lukewarm water and then it was cold again. Granada was already wet and chilly, and this really dampened our stay. No refund or discount was offered. I didn’t have a warm shower the whole time I was there, which for a 5 star hotel is ridiculous.

Waiting for Check in, a large cup of freshly squeezed orange juice was delivered. The room facilities were also very modern. The first time the toilet was equipped with washlet. When I came back from a trip, the room sent a plate of ginkgo, cheese and ham dings and biscuits to replenish energy. Going out to eat everywhere, especially the seafood restaurant recommended by the hotel, can actually enjoy the cheap Tapas. Breakfast is ordered according to the menu, very delicious. The only downside is that there is no body lotion in the room, and the local area is very dry, but after telling the front desk, a small bottle of L'Occitane body lotion - shampoo and other toiletries are L'Occitane.

The breakfast is rich, freshly squeezed orange juice is very good, the hotel staff is warm! We are three people, booked in Ctrip, have arranged an extra bed when arriving at the hotel, very satisfied, the room is large, the suitcase can be tiled! The hotel is very close to the high-speed exit and there is an underground car park that is very safe. We went to the city and the Alhambra for a taxi. The hotel can call the car because the road in Granada is very narrow. We are not very confident that we drive. This hotel receives tours. Consider dinner at the lobby bar or in the lobby restaurant. The service is especially good, the staff is also very good at English, and the paella is delicious!

I’m sorry to deduct stars for this hotel as there is much about it to enjoy and we did. The concierge was very helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and it’s a great location for the city but ……. 1. Having a roof top bar is an asset. We were encouraged by the reception staff to visit it as it has stunning views. I asked if you had to book and was told no, open from 7. It does have stunning views as we discovered when we went up there but it was closed on Monday and Tuesday! Why? It’s peak tourist season and we were encouraged to go up there ! Very disappointing. 2. The breakfast buffet was good but there was only one person clearing and laying tables and making sure supplies were replenished. There were queues for bread, juice , bacon and eggs. It was 9am. Shame as it’s a great location .

My adult son and I just returned from a week's holiday in southern Spain, during which we stayed at this lovely accommodation. We have only good things to say about it. The staff emailed promptly when we booked our rooms, responded via email to every question, and generally gave us a very warm and hospitable welcome. Amparo greeted us at the door, helped my son move our luggage indoors, then went with me to the underground private carpark. I was especially frazzled, as I'd driven from Cordoba that morning, and was now on single-track cobbled roads in one of the old sections of town, but Amparo made me feel at ease and reassured me as I parked the car. As we checked in, I noticed the reception/sitting area looked cosy and comfortable. The staircase to the rooms is sweeping and grand, but the owner has also installed a wonderful little elevator - perfect for those whose knees protest too much after a long day's walk. Amparo even made us a mid-afternoon coffee and got a croissant - very welcome after a missed lunch (and directly before our hammam experience!). Amparo, David, and Fatima were uniformly excellent: warm, welcoming, informative, and helpful. Despite our late request, they managed to book us a private tour of the Alhambra and Generalife with an excellent guide (Santiago) - one of the many highlights of our short stay in Granada. Monica in the cafe at breakfast was superb - I'm not great with Spanish, but she was very patient with me. Breakfast was excellent also - neither of us could get one of all that was offered, the offerings were so plentiful. The croissants are enormous!! The tomato spread and olive oil were excellent on the toast, and of course, the hams and cheeses were divine. As were the fresh-made juices, coffee, and teas we tried. Another component of breakfast was a sweet bread or pastry, but neither of us could make it to that part, the earlier portions were so monumental! The accommodations were absolutely delightful. It's clear the owner who purchased the building and turned it into this fantastic 6-room hotel put her heart and soul into the design and decoration of all the rooms and public areas. I stayed in the Italian room while my son stayed in the Chinese room. Both were gorgeous representations of those cultures. The Italian room has a balconette, sofa and chair, ornamental fireplace, desk/workspace, washer, kettle, and mini-refrigerator in the sitting area, A bidet accompanies the toilet in the bathroom, and the bath is indeed a bath and shower combination - delightful for a soak when you've tired yourself out walking all over this charming town!! The bathrobe was comfortable, as was the bed. Ample closet and drawer space is provided in the bedroom. The Chinese room is smaller but also has comfortable bedding, clothing storage space (hanging), a bidet on the toilet, a kettle, an ornamental fireplace, as well as a shower. I came here several times in the past five years but I was happily surprised this time. The hotel has been entirely refurbished like three weeks ago and it looks completely new. Rooms size are correct and decoration is very modern. The best the B-Heaven bar which is located at the rooftop with the pool. Its location is awesome too, in downtown but avoiding crowds. Very recommendable!

This purpos-built family owned and operated hostel just on the outskirts of the city centre was a great experience. As a solo senior traveller I was made to feel welcome, and any & all questions, requests were dealt with promptly. I stayed four nights in a six-bed female dorm with a private bathroom (all the rooms have private bathroom) that was bright, & cleaned every day. Great kitchen/eating area downstairs, across from a lounge with TV, etc. A good continental breakfast was well worth a five Euro option. Just down the street there was a great local bar called Taberna Britannia, and another just around the corner in the other direction. Great for tapas and beer or wine, and total immersion in Spanish. Just a little further down and around the corner was a fresh fruit and produce shop within five minutes walking distance. Four days were not enough. I did tour the Alhambra, and enjoyed a walking tour of the old city, by donation. However, the highlight for me was a Flamenco performance at Jardines de Zoraya restaruant. Can't wait to go back.

First of all, when we asked her about driving in Granada’s restricted circulation area, Maria at the reception had a defensive and somewhat ”arrogant” attitude. We just wanted to know if the hotel bill or theirs could be passed. If mediation can be requested, it reaches our claim that we enter the hotel well through the mobility restricted routing loop. We just want to know if they can tell us to solve this problem, but we get a defensive attitude and ”hand washing . We appreciate the superficial cleanliness of the room and we found a used mask under the bed! We stayed at the Hotel Universal as we wanted to visit the Alhambra Palace and Granada. The hotel is very centrally located. We were within walking distance to all of the places we wanted to visit. The reception is warm and engaging. We were given information about where to eat, where to walk for the best views of the city, what time to get to the Alhambra palace for. We had already purchased our tickets to the palace but the receptionist offered to print the email off for me so we had a paper ticket to take to the gate. That was going above and beyond- excellent customer service. The room itself was very large with a queen sized bed, wardrobes, writing desk, bedside tables, safe, trouser press, mini bar (it was empty but you could keep your own items in there if you wished) The ensuite bathroom was modern and pristine. The entire hotel was pristine. The 6th floor has a cafeteria where you can buy breakfast for a very reasonable rate. We had fresh coffee and the most amazing croissants. We paid so little for our room. I was very impressed and would have no problem in recommending the hotel to others.

I stayed at the hotel for only two nights, but wish I had stayed for longer! The hotel - as well as the city of Granada - was really nice: I especially liked the courtyard and the cloister corridors - very beautiful. I had a nice and clean room with a large terrace with a view of the mountains. I was there in July so the terrace was too hot to enjoy during the day, but lovely and cool in the early morning and late evening. The breakfast buffet was fine with a large selection of food. The staff were all very kind and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of major sights and shopping areas, but you can also easily catch a bus to the centre of the city a short walk from the hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a tour of classical Spain. This hotel is well situated, there’s a 10-15 minute walk up to the city centre, passing some interesting squares with plenty of opportunity for refreshments. Check in and out was very efficient. There is a small bar area, and there was a reasonably decent buffet breakfast served, which we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy at leisure unfortunately. Sadly we didn’t have the opportunity to try the swimming pool. Our room 314 was cool and of a good size, clean and well maintained. There was good air con, a safe and a fridge, no kettle though. The bed as often out here was 2 big singles put together, firm and comfortable though. There’s the benefit of a reliable satellite tv signal whilst relaxing in your room. The main benefit is the hotel’s excellent location though, a good base from which to explore this fine city.
