December 16, 2022 we went to Ghent for a weekend and booked an overnight stay at La Ducale. We were nicely welcomed. The room was ok for a night, but the price-quality ratio was mediocre to say the least, especially since breakfast was not included. Pain Perdu, within walking distance, turned out to be an excellent choice for breakfast. On departure, the manageress told me about the high costs and about bad reviews (hoping for a good one from us?). Unfortunately, I forgot to take my charger home. I immediately sent a message via Whatsapp the next day whether it had been found. Message was read immediately but no reply. Then called and agreed that the charger would be sent at my expense. However, it was not possible until after the New Year because she was too busy for the next 2 weeks. After the New Year she said she was on vacation for 2 weeks, then it was too busy and then she didn't know which charger it was. Messages were always read immediately but not answered and the telephone connection was apparently never good enough to have a good conversation. I finally got a clear answer to my message that I had better start writing my review. I had no respect, the chambermaid was expensive, my messages caused her stress, and intelligent people tell her that the bad reviews say more about the author than about her. So our experience with La Ducale was certainly not a good one. And as for my charger, I'll buy a new one!
