Heart of the Village Bed & Breakfast in Shelburne VT

We had a great three-day stay in Shelburne with so much to do. The inn is walking distance to the amazing Shelburne Museum as well as nice restaurants and shops. The coffee and breakfast all three mornings were among the best we’ve had, and you choose the day ahead — so they buy everything fresh. It’s lovely, clean and comfortable, but not fussy. Rose and Anatoly are fabulous hosts with warm, fun and welcoming personalities. We would definitely go back again!

The Heart of the Village Inn is the best! The rooms and cozy and the beds and pillows are ver comfortable! Anatoly makes the most delicious breakfasts I’ve ever had. Rose and Anatoly are warm and ver welcoming! It was a pleasure to stay there!!

The review we read about the Heart of the Village Inn said that it may soon become our new favorite Bed and Breakfast. It sure is now! Everything was impeccable - starting with the gourmet breakfast to every little detail of room decor. This place feels like home away from home - only better!

This was absolutely the worst experience we've ever had. We actually only spent a total of 10 minutes or less on the property. My husband I are a very well traveled middle aged couple. My husband is a retired vet with Parkinsons. Our friend who lives close to the Inn dropped us off and helped with luggage. We took our shoes off, looked around the room and left. We went to the main building looking for a reception area ( I guess I missed that in the pages of information and rules they send over and over again). Rose came out and said she was having our friends car towed as we didn't give her that information and there was no staff or reception area if something "bad" should happen. The parking lot was completely empty, we actually apologized and said she was just helping with the luggage. We then left and received this text. :Teri and Bill. Read & confirm. Your potentially short visit is off to not such a great start as a couple of things happened that should not have happened. Looks like you didn't read our pre-arrival text message or the reservation agreement. To reiterate: 👉1. Visitors are not permitted. Your friend does not enter either building for any reason. She may pick you up & drop you off in the parking lot. That's it. 👉2. Sharing of your access codes is not allowed. Your friend is not to enter your access codes for you either. 👉3. Your previously issued codes have been deleted. Your new code is **** the last 4 digits of Bill's credit card. Do NOT share it with anyone else again. 👉We will not be able to host you otherwise & you will have to find a different place to stay. After reading this my husband experienced anxiety and no longer felt safe or comfortable staying there. It was clear we weren't wanted. We went back, opened the door to our room ( we did not take our shoes off). grabbed our luggage and left. They are now not only charging us for the 3 nights but an additional $100 cleaning fee for not taking our shoes off. We never used the bathroom, slept in the bed touched anything. Spooky thing is how did she know? They have cameras and mic's every where super, super creepy. We can't understand the 5* reviews..we're shocked by it and wonder if they're all real as many locals told us horror stories. Read their responses to the negative reviews and you'll get a sense. Anywhere is better than here

The Inn is ultra clean and comfortable. My room was great, the bed and linens were superb. Had a leisurely coffee and breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was so yummy and exactly what I wanted. Rose and Anatoly are lovely hosts and I’d come back to stay in a heartbeat.

What a beautiful place to stay. It is comfortable and cosey with each room indivually designed. Rose and Anatoly are wonderful hosts and the breakfasts are just amazing. I highly recommend you stay in this perfect spot, a home away from home!

I had a most enjoyable stay at the Heart of the Village in. The innkeepers are delightful and pay great attention to detail. The room is meticulously appointed and very comfortable. All the updates in the rooms are excellent. Air conditioning is very much appreciated as it was very warm when I was there for part of the time. The breakfast was one of my favorite parts of the day. Very delicious and many things to choose from. I was always greeted very kindly and even though they were busy preparing breakfast, the innkeepers always took the time to speak with me. I would highly recommend this property.

Hosts provide plenty of warning that their place is not for everyone. I worked hard to be a good guest but eventually failed...it was a shoe error. There are many rules, cameras, auto locks, and fines for non compliance. My favorite sign is the one warning guests not to take others' shoes and (in small print) to behave as if someone is watching. Turn around and look up. Someone is watching! Bring your own coffee. Wait for the scathing reply and you will get a good sense of the a**osphere at this B&B

I went to Vermont for a solo trip and I was looking for a small, cozy inn to stay at. I was lucky that Heart of the Village was one of the most quaint inns nearby and they were available after October 31st, since some businesses in the area close for the season. I cannot say enough good things about my stay. I appreciated the detailed instructions when I booked, the welcome email with all the information about my stay (with step by step pictures!) and the homemade breakfasts were amazing. Highly recommend the crab cake Benedict with a side of bacon. The room was clean, efficient and temperature was easily controlled. And it is very close to lots of cute shops and restaurants. The inn keepers were very friendly and professional. I will absolutely recommend Heart of the Village Inn to anyone visiting the area and I will return myself if I travel back to the area!
