Parador de Limpias

We've stayed at this Parador before because it's within easy striking distance of the ferry at Santander (and Bilbao too). We spent a night there, on half-board, at the end of our Spanish touring holiday The Parador is based round a gracious (nineteenth century?) country house. The sleeping accommodation is in modern wings which have been built on. We had a pleasant, comfortable room. Good restaurant with an interesting menu and efficient service. There's parking at the front of the hotel (chargeable) or free parking further away in the hotel grounds; we opted for the paying parking as it was more convenient for luggage. I suspect most guests stay on half-board because I'm not sure there are too many restaurants in the surrounding area that are in easy reach of the hotel. This is a good place at which to start or end your Spanish holiday

We booked this place for our last night in Spain prior to a return to the UK. The location of the hotel is lovely - quite remote with woodland around. Sadly the positive experience ends there. Where to start.... The grounds themselves look sad and neglected - with some good maintenance it could be exceptional. the whole place looks tired and in need of better management. Weeds are everywhere and there is not enough serving staff. The pool is uninviting and again needs work. We stayed at several Paradors on our trip and this one was by far the worst for service and quality. The hotel is an old palace with new extensions on each wing. These are poorly insulated for noise and you can hear people snoring next door and clumping around. The restaurant is shambolic. We booked an evening meal and it took over 45 minuted for food to arrive. What did arrive was bland and uninspiring delivered by a chubby bearded waiter who needs training in customer service. No smile, he really didn't seem to enjoy his job. No apology for the delay either. Breakfast was a duplicate - coffee was served in a jug and we were told to help ourselves to a teabag and hot water - no other Parador was this bad. The hot food when delivered was again poor lacking in seasoning and quality. My wife's tortilla with potato had no potato !!! Overall not one to go to. Many will because of the nearness to the ferry port. If we were doing the trip again we would avoid this place and book elsewhere.

Make sure website prices quoted are same upon Parador location. Make sure you can reserve parking space.

There were 3 of us traveling. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and it had a large corner window facing the trees in the garden. The room's furniture needed some renovation: the TV stand, the sofa bed, and the armchairs in the corner window area. This corner area was quite pleasant, but the armchairs were old and uncomfortable. The air conditioning only worked for cooling, and I had to turn it off at the electrical panel during the night; otherwise, the room would get too cold. I couldn't find a button to turn it off on the remote control fixed to the wall, nor could I increase the temperature, although I tried following the provided instructions. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of options. Outside, the garden was magnificent, with lots of different species of trees and plants and everything very green. I also managed to use the pool on one of the warmer days. It was shallow throughout its length, but pleasant for swimming a few laps.

Very pleasant and relaxing. Tea/coffee making facilties should be available in all the rooms, not just suites.

We stayed at this Parador before sailing back to the UK. It was our 4th night staying consecutively in Paradors and the most expensive. It was totally not worth it as our room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. We raised a complaint on check-out and basically they couldn’t care less. Even after complaining to the complaint department for the Parador business we were sent a pathetic reply with no real explanation as to why we had to pay €224 for a room that smelt

We booked half board, double bed. However, our room didn't have a double bed - it was two single beds pushed together - not satisfactory. The bedroom and bathroom were fine, although we could hear noise from the room overhead like shoes dropping and furniture being moved. Very unusual. We felt that the evening meals were terrible. The menu never changed and the courses were so uninspired and dull - by the fourth day, we were dreading their evening meal. I certainly could not recommend this particular Parador.

Mixed service, from rude to correct. Very poor room (aprox. 250$), you can be lucky to hear your neighbors toilets, conversations, doors… not standard for Parador or any related hotel. Definitely not value for money, there are plenty of alternatives in the area, as Limpias is a stepping stone to other interesting places around. The restaurant as well as the menu feels like a wedding reception.
