BTW Hostel Alma is right opposite a busy Petrol station and on a busy road. We Booked Hostel Alma in Dover, and the *********** web site offered me to select the time when I want to check in the drop down. Because I was new to ***********, I thought if I am offered to select a time, that means I can come to check in at that time. So I came at that time, everything was locked, I knocked on the door of the hostel, and the owner opened. He looked like he was drunk, I got scared of him, and he very aggressively started to shout straight away “WHY DO YOU KNOCK????!!!, CHECK IN IS FROM 3 PM, GO AWAY etc!!!!!”. I was very shocked and scared by all this and was just trying to politely ask how come the web site offered to choose the time at 10am, and if I am wrong I will come back at 3pm with no problem, and check if I could leave the bags for holding”. It was just a 2 minute polite conversation from my side to clarify things. He kept shouting and scaring me, shouting that I was disturbing him to clean the hostel, brought a laptop and showed me that after I selected time, he sent me an email, which stated that “earlier after 10 am check in is at additional charge”. I said “ok I didn’t see that email and I can come at 3pm for check in with no problem” . But he shouted that because I disturbed him to clean, I should cancel the booking, and go AWAY! He said that he will find other clients in a second, and that I will be in big trouble to find a place. He is very rood aggressive person who hates people and should not work in this industry. I had to call ***********. BTW you have to enter a long confirmation number and pin TWICE to get to customer service, I spend 1 hr on the phone twice, I was promised in WRITTEN FORM BY EMAIL that money for Hostel Alma will be refunded and that the difference in a replacement place WILL BE covered. When I paid for an expensive replacement airbnb provided by *********** in an email link, I got another email from *********** that Hostel Almas owner said “we breached check in rules”, and that *********** won’t cover the difference in a replacement, despite the promise. Which means *********** made me buy expensive airbnb, with a WRITTEN promise they will cover the difference and when I purchased it, and could not cancel at all, they said they won’t pay the difference. And this all after someone shouted at me and treated me awfully for no reason at all. What means I breached check in rules??? I did not insist on moving in at 10am? I said I can come at 3pm with no problem. I should not be paying a lot of money and be shouted at for having a 2 minute conversation. This is absolutely not acceptable treatment of people. *********** do not reply to customer service for way longer than 24hrs. I asked to speak to the manager, they kept repeating the mantra “case is closed. We can’t help at all” I spend 1 hr twice on the phone. Had loads of stress. No result. Where running with my suitcases around Dover changing place and cal
