Ibsens Hotel

Copenhagen Center Copenhagen|0.62km from Blågården Bibliotek
Neat enough old hotel in the heart of Copenhagen near all things of interest, we enjoyed being able to walk out and find food, transport, parks and shops close by. The hotel itself is a classic old Copenhagen building which shows its age and while I'm sure some find it charming, I would say it's a bit below the standard you come to expect from more modern buildings. The staff was friendly and wanted to accommodate us although the cleaning staff seemed so into their own business that they wouldn't even notice us as we tried getting into the hotel's single elevator, rushing in before us so we almost collided as it didn't seem they were gonna come back inside the lift having just exited. No polite apologies either and on top of that the hallway was at almost all times we came through them, day or night, full of trolleys with used towels, jackets hanging on random hooks and generally just felt cluttered. Don't know if this was on all floors but it gave a weird impression disorder walking through the already-creaky hallway. As for the room itself, it covered our needs and we didn't have issues with noises from other guests other than those walking through the hallway but at least the walls, floor and ceiling didn't cause disturbance. The beds were a little too soft for our liking and left us feeling sore the day after. Also a shame we didn't get the double-bed we had requested during the booking process. Somehow they mixed that up and reception staff didn't seem to know what our booking involved when we showed up. We decided the twin beds provided could be pushed together instead and leave it at that as we had been up at 4 in the morning and were exhausted. A final note on the room would be the weird furniture choices. You get these bed side tables that look like a school kid's wood working project, kind of rough around the edges and felt very cheap and sort of sloppy from a decorating point of view. In contrast, the reception cafe has a wonderful interior and is very charming so I was a fair bit disappointed that the room gave me this impression. All in all, the hotel covered the features it should but I had really expected better from the impression I got when making the booking originally. Location is, however, enough of a pull to make up for the negative aspects. Perfect location for sightseeing and access everywhere.

Cabinn Scandinavia

Copenhagen|0.61km from Blågården Bibliotek
We were in a nicer hotel near Central station and due to a conference they couldn’t extend our stay. Everything downtown was booked. So we decided to go 2 or 3 stops out. Cabin saved us $250 over 2 nights so it was a deal. Buy honestly, it might have been nice to have stayed in the boutique hotel. I am definitely conflicted. Since we only needed 2 night and needed to leave for the airport at 8 am, Cabinn worked because it was a 1.5 block walk to Metro line 2 that goes directly to the airport. PROS On both M1 and M2 lines. M2 terminates at the airport Nice staff Space in lobby to work or eat lunvh Clean Beds were comfortable -which was great. Little kiosk market on corner Central station, many museums, Christianberg Castle, Tívoli and so much more in 8 minutes, a few stops CONS Very very small rooms. Like a budget hotel in Japan. No hair dryer No mini fridge Shower and toilet combined. If you drop the soap, it slides under the toilet. The shower water goes under the toilet if you run the shower full on position Buffet was marginal. Meat and cheese plentiful but cheapest quality. No fruit except for a bowl of small apples and oranges. Croissants tasted like bread. Lots of seating though and some people eating with HUGE amounts of food so mom for the price. So again, if your budget is tight a good choice. For an extended stay or if you need to come back and rest, I’d pay $50-$100 more and get something In Central area.

We stayed here for a short break in January. Firstly the location of the apartments is pretty good, the nearest supermarket is only a couple of minutes walk (Netto) from the apartment and the city centre and main high street are also pretty close so no need for taxi's which are very expensive!. It was very clean and modern and there were nice little touches like coffee pods and some condiments included. There were a couple of issues with the apartment, firstly there is no wardrobe. There is a small coat rack but that is not really suitable if you were staying for more than a weekend but an iron and ironing board are also provided. Secondly it was cold and only 1 side of the radiator in the apartment worked so that was far from ideal when it was literally freezing outside. The bed is quite low and very soft so was not overly comfortable for backs and the pillow situation needs sorting as they are more like cushions than pillows! The furniture in the studio apartment is low spec and a bit uncomfortable so don't expect anything great but they were functional. They need to consider regular blinds for this property. There is a black out blind but if you want to see daylight in daylight hours the room faces an office building so we were not able to open the blinds and had to have the blind down so could not see natural daylight and the thin curtains they had up were too small for the window so were completely useless!!! We did email the owners a couple of times with questions but no one came back to us which was disappointing.....

Room - We had a Design Deluxe Double room on the fourth floor which was large with a balcony and beautifully designed. For the price we paid, sadly the bathroom was a disappointment. The shower had no power so I spent treble my usual time in there just trying to rinse out my shampoo. I understand it’s for eco reasons but when it’s inevitably going to increase shower time there should be a middle ground. It was also designed awkwardly and the shower (was over a bath) didn’t stick out enough to be over you’re entire body. Also the strange toilet panel that looked like one of those Japanese loos didn’t work. Location - On one hand it was great and we never seemed to be more than 20 mins walk from the hotel. Perfect for an afternoon siesta BUT… the traffic! The first two nights were fine but on Thursday night the sirens and voices woke me up several times. I can only imagine how loud it is on lower floors. Staff were friendly although no one told us what happy hour was. Luckily I had done my research! Handing back the key every time was alright - a bit of a faff when you still have to have a card. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on that but I recommend Venner (6 mins walk away) and Espresso House (similar to Starbucks) are dotted about. I would choose it over next door’s Citizen M as I wanted space in the room but I’m not sure I would recommend Hotel Alexandra due to the noise. That said, it’s a beautiful hotel, good staff and nearly everything is walkable.

Scandic Copenhagen is certainly at the top of the quality you can expect from a hotel. If you are looking for details/nice-to-have: The reception could have been a little more engaged when we had questions. Minibar/fridge in the room would be nice. Poor options for connecting your own media to the TV. Missed the standard fried egg at breakfast. This is details which a lot of hotels don't have, so we didn't expect it. Cleaning must be ordered at reception, which I think is a nice solution - but I would prefered a more digital solution. If we had stayed longer, I would be nice to ”order” towels or laundry/pick up in the hallway.

The hotel is located near the University of Copenhagen, very close to various attractions, we are walking a day There is a bar across the road, and no noise can be heard in the arranged room Booked 2 rooms at the same time, one on the 2nd floor and the other on the 4th floor. I don’t know how to arrange it. The slope on the fourth floor, the room is very small, the bed is very small, there is a kettle, coffee and premium drinks, no bathtub, dry and wet separated by a curtain, shower water is very small, no hotel breakfast The appearance of the hotel is still very nice, the lobby is ok, the front desk English is good, the attitude is good, the credit card guarantees, the check-out is very fast, I asked if I had any consumption without checking the room, I stayed for two nights, not cheap, but quite satisfied
