Taplow House Hotel & Spa

Lovely place and nice grounds. Clean rooms. Large outdoor spa pool. Very relaxing. Wonderful breakfast. Reception area is a little odd, just a table in the hallway. But otherwise great stay.

Just returned from an overnight luxury spa experience, which I booked to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday. We had a an absolutely fabulous time. The staff were amazing, each and every one of them from Wendy on reception on our arrival, to the Spa staff, the restaurant staff in the evening and at breakfast. Everybody went out of their way to be friendly, helpful and attentive. I had told them about the fact it was a special occasion during the booking process, and they all went above and beyond to make sure mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay. There were some unexpected special touches, like balloons in the room on arrival, and a 'Happy Birthday' surprise desert at dinner. The only negative thing was the room (room 5), we had booked a twin, which was above the kitchens and very noisy until late at night and again in the morning, a bit dated and needed some TLC, but everything else about our stay was fantastic.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Taplow House and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the incredibly warm and attentive staff, particularly Wendy, who ensured that our stay was special in every way. Our room was perfect, offering a stunning view of the beautiful grounds, which added a serene and romantic ambiance to our visit. Our 3 year old daughter was included at every moment in the care and attention for which we are very grateful. A special mention must go to Daniela, who went above and beyond to make our dinner truly lovely. Her attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service made the evening one to remember. Thank you to everyone for making our anniversary celebration so memorable!

Please think twice about booking any sort of function at this hotel. We had wanted to host our Mother's 90th birthday party here for 30 guests. On meeting the Events Manager we felt this was just the perfect place to hold it. The hotel is beautiful and set in stunning grounds. However this is where the positives end. Since our first meeting with the Events Manager 3 weeks ago we have tried unsuccessfully on numerous occasions to contact her or even anyone at the hotel Trying to contact by phone is an absolute joke. There is no Receptionist You are given choices of different departments to contact but no one picks up! We finally got through to the kitchen who promised they would leave a message for the Events Manager to call us. She didn't. Contacting by email was fruitless. Mailbox was full. Even when it suddenly was empty and we were able to email..our emails weren't answered. We don't live locally but my husband and I , completely frustrated with the lack of communication decided to visit last Saturday. The Events Manager wasn't there ( supposedly) but we were assured that a message would be left for her to call us Monday. She didn't. In pure exasperation my brother in law tried to call again this morning and amazingly someone picked up. He asked to speak with the General Manager. He was told that the GM was in a meeting but the message would be passed to him and he would call back. He didn't. We have given up and will now look for an alternative venue to hold the party. I'm not sure what on Earth is going on at the hotel and looking at some of the negative reviews on here I can see we are not the only ones to have encountered these problems. It really is such a shame as it's a beautiful hotel but that's where it stops. So pleased we hadn't actually paid a deposit. Please do think twice if you are thinking about trying to host an event there. It really isn't worth the stress.

Absolutely lovely building but that’s it,gardens are shabby and outdoor furniture covered in bird poo and was put in a small room above the kitchen so crash bang up until gone 11pm and started again at 4am.Food is 🤮,seem to spend most of your stay waiting around for staff at reception,bar and then when someone eventually appears they haven’t got a clue about any alcoholic drinks and look at you like you are from another planet and go and ask another member of staff for help,members of staff arguing behind the bar,no member of staff seems to know what they are doing.Fawlty towers 🤦‍♀️

Why do you never answer the telephone. I ring this hotel daily about an up and coming bulk booking for Ascot and nobody answers the phone !! They don’t reply to emails or messages on website . Has it closed down ???? I am most concerned as I desperately need to speak with someone . Help !!!

Fantastic building and grounds with the most amazing trees. Thoroughly enjoyed our stsy there. Great service, lovely room overlooking the lawns. Had a great stay with the thanks of Wendy on reception and Jakob in the bar. Would highly recommend and we will be back soon.

Treatments were very good, but that is about where it stopped. The Spa pool was actually just a small, outdoor jacuzzi. There was no space to sit and enjoy a relax. We stayed overnight and I had one of the worst sleeps I have ever had. The bed was a pull out bed with a divot in the middle, and a very thin mattress that meant it was hard on your back on the metal pull out. There was a TV on loudly through the early hours of the morning which I believe was because the cleaners leave the TVs with loud music on for arriving guests - but no one turns it off if guests do not arrive. There was no still water so we had two bottles of sparkling in the room - not that anyone told us, I overheard the bartender say this to a waiter. The service was friendly but hopeless. Unsure what utensils we would need with different courses (no spoons for dessert?). Small things like having to ask to have water filled up, and then only filling one persons glass and not asking the other person if they want a glass? Strange. The one saving grace was the food which was superb. Unfortunately not enough to justify returning. Very poor, especially from a 4* hotel.

Great location! Had an event here with friends and family and everyone loved it! The service was amazing with all the staff being so helpful and made sure we were pleased by catering for our needs. A special thanks to Hulya who went over and beyond with her professionalism and kind, welcoming nature. The venue itself is marvellous with a terrace area looking out to a beautiful nature rich garden. Also the food was splendid. 10/10 would recommend!
