Hotel Cara Vita Cologne

Good location but not great in my opinion, there are hotels at similar prices in a much better location. Nice and clean room, but very small and you can hear all the noises from neighboring rooms (we heard a gentleman snoring all night as if he were in our room). Reception practically non-existent. We were welcomed by a lady who only spoke German and nothing was explained to us about check out apart from the time.

The accommodation is very noisy and was very loud at night. The parking garage costs 17 euros per day, which is listed as parking options. But very centrally located

I am booking a room via Booking on March 4, 2022, for a stay at the beginning of July in Cologne, during a very big event. On the same day, I received an email telling me "credit card has been pre-authorized to guarantee the reservation" 2 days ago I received emails from Booking telling me that the hotel is unable to debit my bank card , and that I have 24 hours to do so. On several occasions when trying to enter my Visa or American Express card, I always receive the same email from the hotel confirming that my cards have been taken into account, then a few minutes later rejecting them, even though they are both loaded. Barely 12 hours later, I received an email from the hotel telling me that they had canceled my reservation and that it was final. When I contacted Booking, they admitted that the hotel was at fault and asked them to revalidate my reservation 2 days ago. Mirta, the hotel manager, confirmed this orally to Booking, indicating that she would send a written confirmation, which never arrived despite several reminders from Booking. And as luck would have it, the same room on the same dates is now offered at €716 instead of €313.95

How people here come up with such a bad review is a mystery to me. My credit card didn't work on Booking and the staff kept my booking anyway - even though they no longer had any security. The room is smaller, yes, but it is clean. I even had access to a small "balcony/terrace". The staff make a lot of effort and are very accommodating. The breakfast is delicious and eggs are prepared on request. It is ideal for 2/3 days of sightseeing or for work!

I wanted to book through Airbnb - they rejected my booking because the price was invalid and asked me to contact them by email (which is forbidden and hidden by the platform). I called and booked over the phone at a cheaper price than on Airbnb, and they asked me to send my credit card details to finalize the booking. When I did that, they said there was no booking and made me a new offer for 80% more than the price agreed over the phone. I called and they said the employee on the phone had probably made a mistake with the number of people and that the room costs more during Carnival. What a disgrace.
