First thing I noticed was the excellent friendly service at the front counter. This service continued at breakfast the next morning, which was very nice - it was a menu-style breakfast where you order a breakfast you would like. Breakfast with salmon had a small supplement.
The room was mostly okay, although there were some stains on the bedsheet. Inclusion of earplugs was a nice touch as it is on the main road - I happen to like the city noise, but ended up using them to block out the noise of the fan (there is no air conditioning).
The bathroom had nice toiletries although we noticed that the cold tap ran hot for quite a while before it got cold.
Overall the stay was fine, but with lots of hotels available in Colchester it wouldn’t be my first pick to return.

First time at the North Hill Hotel and if I'm in Colchester again then I will definitely book here!
Professional, friendly, clean, and close to the town centre (and a 15 min walk from Colchester's main train station).
I didn't eat in the evening but the beer was great, the service lovely, and the breakfast in the morning was as good as I've ever had.

Food and Wine was excellent and a great breakfast was included in the price. A hidden gem really. Rooms were OK, but as an overall combination it was well worth the money.

A comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff and good food, very good breakfast choice with good service and seemingly cooked to order - not a hot buffet the large hotels favour. Easy access to NCP car park.

Room was small but very clean. It was clear they had thought about everything that a traveller may need such as hairdryer, iron and ironing board, fan, and even ear plugs for the street noise.
Upon arrival I had to enter via The Green Room and the door was opened.to me by a member of the public as it had been locked and there was no answer to me ringing the doorbell.

We enjoyed our stay at the North Hill Hotel. Room was spacious. Bathroom was above average. Breakfast was nice as was our evening meal.
