The hotel has a lot of advantages. Clean rooms, friendly staff, rich breakfast buffet, good salad buffet in the evening, very beautiful bath and sauna landscape! Most extensive, modern and large. Unfortunately there are a few aberes that do not be enough for 5 stars. Heat food at breakfast is cold, buffet up to 10:30, which is super, unfortunately is not filled and already delicate from 9:00. Unfortunately, that is not possible at all. The soft cooked eggs perfectly but cold. What is a nogo to pay for accompanying water to a bottle of wine 3.50. A 0.75 l mineral water 9.50!!! So I'm sorry that there are k.o criteria that we don't come anymore. It is a very expensive wellness hotel and then so small doesn't fit for me in a 5-Sterne-Philosophie. Generally, the food is good.

The location of this hotel is to die for! Kochel am See is stunningly beautiful and this hotel is perched on the edge of the lake - our bedroom just hung over the water. On a bitingly cold day (at least -10*c) we had a warm welcome at reception - the receptionist spoke no English and we had virtually no German but we got along fine! The bedroom was comfortable, if a little austere (traditional), and the bathroom was smallish but modern and all very clean. The room was warm and stayed that way through the night (not all hotels can say that). The hotel is in two parts with the accommodation and wellness centre separated by about 40m - important to know when the temperature is so low. We watched the sunset from the restaurant where we took tea and later had dinner. The restaurant is formal but friendly - you need to ensure that you get a window table. We had our best meal in Germany here - my wife had half a squash stuffed with mushrooms and cheese and I had three fishes (salmon, char and another fish we could not get google translate to recognise) on a bed of mushrooms and courgettes baked in parchment followed by a sharing plate of desserts. The portions were massive like everywhere in Bavaria but these dishes were beautifully executed. The hotel is just outside the village on the road between Kochelsee and Walchensee and in warmer weather would be a great location for walking around the lake and mountaineering.

We were so happy to be back here finally! We come here and stay every year at our favorite Ettal hotel. Covid 19 derailed last years trip, so finally getting back was a piece of heaven! It's like coming home! It was so good to see all the familiar faces, in housekeeping, Jens at the front desk, Melanie and everyone in the dining room, like coming back to family! We have our favorite room overlooking the Kloster, {thank you SO much, Jens, and I love to hear the bells chiming. There are also rooms that overlook the glorious countryside. The staff is amazing, everyone from the front desk check in, the housekeepers, and house keeping, the rooms are spotless. Breakfast is always, fresh and with something for everyone. You will hot go away hungry here! We love their scrambled and fried eggs! and everything else is perfect too much to name it all. The dining staff is so friendly and welcoming, as is everyone at this hotel. The hotel is a mile drive from Oberammergau, and Garmisch and Mittenwald are with in a 30 to 40 minute drive. There is SO much beauty in this area of Bavaria, our favorite place on the planet! We stayed 6 nights this time, and next year we may stay longer. We really did not want to leave, it was so nice to escape the goings on at home, and be in a peaceful place, Bavaria . If you stay here you will not be disappointed .
