Chinatown
I booked a room at this hotel because of the positive reviews and I was not disappointed. The rate I got was pretty good. If you book online via the hotel's website, you can save some money. I actually called and talked to someone at the hotel because on one day, we had 2 people staying and on another day, we had 3 people staying (because my husband was flying in to join us later) and the rates were different depending on the number of people staying. This is standard procedure in some European countries, so I wasn't completely shocked. The room we had was small, but clean. Because of COVID, we were told there wouldn't be any housekeeping and if we needed anything (like towels), we could come to the front desk. We didn't have a great view, like one of the other reviews we had read, but I did like the location. The hotel is located on the edge of Chinatown, so there are many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. There is also a metro station that is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, in the Chinatown parking lot. In fact, we parked our car there for 2 nights. I was a little worried about somebody breaking into it, as it is a surface lot, but no such thing happened. In fact, there are lots of cars parked in the lot at any one time. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I LOVE the location!

Chinatown
In Chinatown, it is very convenient for Chinese business travelers with a Chinese stomach. The environment and sanitation are very good, but there is no mineral water and disposable slippers, and the sanitation is only to make the bed once every 2 days. I stayed for 6 nights and did not do a lot of sanitation. The hair falling on the ground is always there. It is very close to Mccormick place, and it is a little farther away. It is not particularly easy to call a taxi. In addition, the air conditioner is quite loud

While attending a conference I was worried because there were no rooms at the conference location. I found Le Meridian Essex and booked my week there. I must say everything was phenomenal from the time I walked in and throughout my stay. Hotel staff were kind and more than willing to help. Taniya, Natasha and Jazzlynn at the front desk were always patient and friendly. Concierge was helpful and welcoming. The hotel provided a good voucher each day for the Grant Park Bistro where again the staff and quality were definitely 5 star! As for my room, it was clean and had many little amenities to make my stay comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for everything I have mentioned above as well as its beautiful convenient location.

I had high hopes for this hotel because of the location and a few of the ratings I read before booking...but our experience was not at all what I expected. First, the hotel doesn't have thermostats in each room. Our room was hot and stuffy when we arrived. There was a wall fan (like many hotels have) in there and it was turned on but did absolutely nothing to change the feel in the room. I called the front desk and they confirmed that the hotel is all on one heating/cooling system with no thermostats in the rooms. They suggested we open the window(s). We did this, but even on the 11th floor, the amount of noise we could hear from outside was ridiculous. We left the windows open while we went out to explore the city and the room felt a little better when we returned, but it was not comfortable for us to sleep because of noise, temperature, and the bed. Speaking of the bed...this brings me to the 2nd issue we had with our room. I would liken the comfort level of the bed to throwing a blanket on the floor and sleeping there. The mattress and pillows were horrible. To anyone reading this - if you don't like a firm bed, look for another hotel! Now, all was not lost on the issues we had. The hotel and room itself were very clean and seemed pretty modern given the age of the building. The bathroom and shower were nice

It's a good hotel for the price. Location is excellent with Museum Campus Metra station right in front and bus stations nearby. You can also walk to downtown. There are Walgreens stores and a Target store nearby so you can buy anything you might need. It was cold in winter but the heating was good. Radiator had some noise but ear plugs can easily solve the issue. Definitely a budget option. I was happy with it because it was a business trip.
