If ever there was a historic hotel desperately in search of a cleaner, then this is it. You could add plumber, electrician and pest-controller if you want to be really picky, but a cleaner would probably be enough to turn this from a close encounter with tropical disease to a relatively pleasant stay. The one redeeming aspect of this hotel is that it is an architectural and historical gem and one can only pray that an enlightened new owner with deep pockets comes and undertakes the remedial action required to turn it into a truly world class destination. Until then, expect the bare minimum in terms of service, cleanliness and safety. It is certainly an experience but not one you will necessarily wish to repeat.
