Being "local" to Cape Town my Wife and I decided to leave after work on Friday for our weekend away at Vergenoegd Löw, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived in a mere 30minutes from Table View, which is on the "other side" of Cape Town. Upon our arrival we were greeted and assisted by friendly staff; Golf Carts zoomed up and down collecting picknick baskets and luggage from guests which just added to the excitement already present. After settling into our room, we decided to go for a leisure stroll through the garden before dinner, the farm is bigger than what we initially thought. We opted to eat both nights at Clara's Barn - Chef Drikus and team knocked it out of the park. Both nights the food was exceptional, and it is recommended to anyone keen to explore or just enjoy a nice meal. Saturday Morning, we were treated by a breakfast in the "courtyard", whereafter we continued exploring the farm, which is indeed still a working farm, and as we were reminded upon arrival one of the oldest working wine farms in South Africa. We saw the famous duck's resting their feet by the pond before their next "run" - they run twice daily, 9am and 12pm. There is a wedding chapel, labyrinth, remnants of a bird hide after a tree decided to somewhat flatten it (which I really wish they would fix)... After the lunchtime duck run, we went for a wine tasting and boy, is the wine good, one tip, try the Heritage Collection, Maximilian. After soaking our livers in some good wine, we went to pamper the rest of the body with a couple’s messages..which I can only describe as if someone has taken "you" out of your body, scrubbed it clean of all the stress, and place "you" back. Worth it. We retired back to our room resting in the Jacuzzi until supper time at which time we returned to Clara's Barn - once again to be treated to a delicious meal. Top Notch. At the end of the weekend, we returned well rested, with some fresh produce from the garden to try our own hand in the kitchen ;-) We enjoyed the stay, thank you so much and we will hopefully be back.
