I took my Mum for a birthday afternoon tea, which was delicious! We had lovely weather and great service. The sausage roll was the most delicious aspect, with the freshly baked scones coming a close second. I brought some of the cakes back to London for my husband and they went down well. We will be back!

We went for an afternoon tea on 27th May. There was just 2 of us. On arriving, the parking was very limited. There was no signage explaining where to park and the dead end drive was difficult to reverse back down when we realised there was nowhere to park. The property is lovely, the views amazing. On entering the main doors there was no signage directing you where to go. So we headed towards the restaurant and were greeted by a nice lady who booked us in to our reserved table. We sat by the windows looking out at the lovely views down to the wooded valley beyond. Service was ok, not the best, but not awful. Sadly, the flowers on our table were wilted and dead. The waitress swapped these with another one from a different table when we pointed this out. We wanted to take nice photos of our afternoon tea and the views beyond, and dead flowers would have looked a bit rubbish. The afternoon tea arrived quickly. We are both vegetarians which was easily accommodated. The stand is 3 tiers. The bottom tier had 6 tiny slim crustless sandwich with lovely fillings. Really delicious. The second tier had 4 scones, jam and clotted cream, and the top tier had a selection of cakes. All of which were utterly delicious! We thought it looked a bit sparse, but we ate the whole thing washed down with two pots of tea, and we were full. However, we feel there should be more savoury and less sweet items. Extra sandwiches and just one scone each with the cakes would have been a better balance. Whilst it was all really tasty and beautifully presented, it was VERY sweet-heavy. We both felt a bit sickly afterwards. In summary: The sandwiches were very nice and we both would have eaten more - we would have preferred 2 savoury and one sweet tier, rather than one savoury and two sweet. Maybe this could be an option offered to guests? Very tasty and more than enough, but just too much sugar!

A group of us arrived to attend a wedding. Staff very friendly from check in to check out. The staff made everyone welcome. Rooms are expensive but they are absolutely amazing with brilliant views across the moors and looking down to Tamar River

From arrival to departure the team of people who make up the staff is centred on you. This is the ethos of this hotel. The 'front of house' team, led by Sarah, from the young new staff (Bella and Sam) though those more experienced in the hospitality sector (Llewellyn (? spelling)), plus all members of the 'backroom staff' specialities, the same spirit pervades. The room (11) was lovely. The decor was coordinated and the view from the balcony over the Tamar valley was exceptional. Filling the bath would cause this year's water shortage. And then the food. Yum yum. From the simple to the clever the standard was always high. My only complaint was with the biscuits served with the cheese board - you should be able to put some cheese on them without a structural failure - look at the depths I've had to go to to find an error! The owner of this hotel should be proud of the ambiance of this wonderful establishment. He should be especially pleased that his staff have helped him to produce such a wonderful place to stay. Go on, pamper yourself.

A really memorable four night stay - we were with my mother and our rooms, close by to each other in the barn, were perfect - home from home, with stunning views across the valley and fresh milk in the fridge every morning. We also liked the really friendly and helpful team. We booked bed and breakfast but also ate in the restaurant each evening - sometimes Table d’hote, very special - and sometimes the standard day menu - great steak. The Horn of Plenty has had a good reputation for fine food for many years - and long may this continue - it’s also a very good place to stay.

This was our first stay at this hotel. It was to celebrate my birthday (80!). It was booked by phone by our daughter. She was very impressed how helpful the staff were to meet all our needs. The superb attitude of the staff was also seen during our stay. We were in Room 5 in the courtyard and it had been very recently redecorated. The room was very spacious, had a balcony overlooking the gardens and had a large bathroom with separate shower and bath. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of storage. We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was superb. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a luxurious break.

We booked a 2 day break with our Son and his wife. unfortunately the weather was dire, and we could not enjoy the wonderful views. However we could not have been made more welcome. our room extremely comfortable, and the food was exceptional. the hotel definitely deserves to have it's third rosette reinstated.

Visited as a group of 6 - pre ordered and staff were extremely helpful as I’m gluten free. Definite can do attitude from staff and chef. Delicious gf bread and excellent starter and pudding. Really great to have a wide choice of delicious food. All other diners pleased with their choices too.

Previously had many happy stays at HOP when under past management. We had booked a 3 day gourmet break costing £1,140.00. On this occasion we stayed for just over an hour and left. We had booked into "best" room. We could not open balcony door. We both had to shoulder it. An outside light had fallen off the wall exposing wires. Water had leaked in through bi-fold doors lifting floor boards. We reported these faults to reception and a member of staff agreed with the problems. We waited an hour in reception hallway to see if another room was available. I then noticed that water had leaked through hall ceiling causing staining and wallpaper to peel. We decided to leave and I was told I had to pay the full price by the receptionist. The manager/owner Jeremy Michael Vincent was called. When I complained about the state of the room he said he was in it the day before and it was absolutely fine. He was very arrogant and far from gracious. Eventually, I offered to pay for one night, which was the offer I had previously made to the receptionist. However, eventually I paid £562.50 for a one hour stay. When we left and were in the car park, we were approached by two different guests who had heard of my complaints in reception. One had complained about the bed and was unable to sleep. The other, who like us had stayed before the new management, said they would certainly not go back which was a shame as they had always enjoyed their stay before the new management.
