"I took my parents here for lunch last Friday and it was just wonderful. The gardens are breathtakingly beautiful and are in immaculate condition. We ate outside, the food was delicious - lots of delicious things and hard to choose, the staff were wonderful. Particularly wonderful was Paul, who I believe is one of the groundsmen, when I realised I had lost my car keys, combed the paths with me to try to find them. We did find them eventually, thanks to him. All the staff were lovely the place itself was magical and I now just need to come up with a really good reason to go back and stay! I can't recommend it highly enough and I'd like to thank Paul especially for going over and above the call of duty."

"Perfection! The whole experience was just fabulous, from our beautiful room, very comfortable bed, good quality bedlinen, fabulous shower. and toiletries. The decor is without doubt wonderful in every respect, great interior design touches. Loved its quirkiness. The owners, Ian & Jack are just so lovely, professional and have an amazing place. Would love to stay again and have no hesitation in recommending this B n B. Thank you. x"

"My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights January/February 2026, this was our 2nd time here, the last time being 2019. Iain and Jack are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them, anything you want or need, just ask and they will sort it for you, and if they are out of the house you can give them a ring. The house is very clean, it's in the town, and everything is in walking distance. Iain and Jacks knowledge of the town and the history is great, so if you are looking for something to do, or somewhere to go, then you need to ask these 2. We had the Crown room, it was nice and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a lovely shower and hot water all the time. We have booked to go back there again in August. You need to book this place as soon as you know the dates you want, or you may miss out and end up paying more than double in one of the other hotels. Thank you Iain and Jack for a lovely weekend."

The Horn of Plenty ★★★★
"We recently revisited the Horn of Plenty for a Gourmet Break having stayed, and dined, there previously. It was an excellent stay and all the better after we had suffered with various medical issues for a year. The Horn of Plenty had been particularly helpful an d kind by changing our reservation a number of times without question and we much appreciated that. We arrived in late afternoon and were warmly greeted and helped to our room with our luggage. The rooms are well equipped and spacious and ours had a balcony with views of the Tamar Valley. We also had a walk-in shower which was perfect in view of our limited mobility. The room was spotless and had all the items we were likely to need. As we were there in the midst of a heatwave, air-conditioning would have been good but they had provided a large fan and we could open windows and balcony doors. There was free WiFi but it was a little unreliable in our room. We were booked for a 6.30pm Dinner and had the A La Carte Menu. There was a good selection of nibbles and starters as well as for the Main Courses. WE were given Canapes/Amuse Bouches which were very attractively presented and delicious. I will not dwell on the food since it was all beautifully presented and very tasty. A house speciality is their freshly baked brioche with whipped butter and balsamic, miso and honey. We had two nights on the A La Carte Menu and on the Third evening we had the Tasting Menu which I took with the Wine Flight. It was top notch and we could easily see why Tom and his Brigade had been awarded 3 x AA Rosettes. They are also passionate about using fresh and local food wherever possible. They have a good wine list and a wide range of drinks including a selection of Zero Alcohol beers and ciders. At Breakfast we had a very wide choice with Continental and Cooked on offer. They use one of my favourite teas, Tregothnan which is grown in Cornwall. Food options ranged from porridge to eggs royal and it was all cooked to order. It is not inexpensive but one gets real value for money and for food lovers it is excellent. The Staff Members are friendly and efficient. Housekeeping was good and there is plenty of free parking. There are many things to do ranging from walks to National Trust properties and Tavistock is only a short distance away. Now that I have retired I feel sure we will be aiming to visit at least twice each year. We highly recommend it."

"Very welcoming reception. Evening meal was awful. Couldn't get under shower as water was too hot. Breakfast was a nightmare. People sat down after us got served before us. Eggs Royal came with no eggs and full breakfast came with wrong eggs. Waiter accidently dropped a flower stem into my coffee (and the water they were in was not fresh) and left it for me to replace coffee. Not impressed."
