Hotels near Winners, Calgary

I booked the Westin to cover me for a late flight into Calgary. I was able to move my flight to an earlier time but was inside the cancellation time for the hotel, so I stayed the night. The hotel presents well from the exterior, smells of freshness and clean when you walk in, and the lobby kept clean with newer furnishing. I checked in and went directly to the restaurant to get food before they closed. The prices were decent for an airport hotel with limited offerings near the location. I ordered the Mahi and it was cooked properly, tasted wonderful and the sides were just as good. The cheesecake was good but reminded me of the multi-wheel cheesecake you get at Costco. It was good but paled in comparison to the Mahi. The waiter was a younger guy that was engaging, had stories about working for Marriott, his travels and places he still wants to see. Overall, a great end of the day dining experience. Once I got to the room, it was very nice. With my status and an upgrade coupon, I was able to get an upgrade to a suite that had a nice, large shower and tub in the suite. There was limited noise from outside to interfere with sleep. The bed is the typical Marriott set up providing a good nights sleep. The TV was a nice size and the controls for lights and heat easy to access and use. The following morning, I was up for breakfast. The good experience from the previous night, at the same restaurant, was smashed for breakfast. I arrived to a 'wait to be seated' sign so I waited for 5-7 minutes watching the waitstaff serve and clean tables. There were 3 active tables, 7-10 tables to be cleaned and three waitstaff in the area. Once I was able to get one person’s attention, he wanted me to sit at a table that had not been clean from the previous customer. I found a clean table with no silverware with expectations that the waiter would see I need silverware and bring some to the table. Once I was seated, the waiting continued. Even if they were busy, which they were not, a flyby to say ”I will be there shortly' is expected. After waiting more than 10 minutes, with all of the waitstaff walking in and around me, I held up the menu to get their attention. One said, 'I thought you were taking that table' to the other person’s reply 'no, it's yours'. I ordered but the staff did not write down the order. Before he left, he asked me again what I wanted so I repeated it and said 'it is ok to write it down' but he said he was good. I handed over my free breakfast coupon before he left. When he brought the coffee, he confirmed the order and had it wrong. Third repeat of the correct order to the waiter and the food still came to me wrong and I had to retrieve my own silverware so I could eat. I had already waited 20+ minutes on getting food so I ate what they brought to me. What was prepared was good but not what I ordered. Everything was great - clean rooms, comfy bed, great breakfast, convenient shuttle to airport, very friendly and helpful staff - EXCEPT, in a hotel with “no smoking “ signs all over, we opened our room and were greeted by a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. We arrived after midnight and had to leave early, so I did not request a different room, and boy do I regret that decision. I had the worst night of sleep ever- the smoke smell was so strong. So if you plan to stay here, be sure you don’t get room 217, and ask if the room you are assigned was ever a smoking room. That’s all I can figure is what happened here. I would be very leery of staying here again based on what happened, and in spite of all the nice amenities the hotel offers.

The location is convenient, there are hair and stains on the bed sheet, but the price is cheap, so fair

I’m giving this 4 stars based on the Oasis Waterpark and our time spent there. Without that, I would score the hotel as a 3 (3.5). The hotel room itself was pretty standard. 2 queen beds, clean enough except for a dirty vent in the bathroom and a pre-existing stain on the carpet (see photos.) The air conditioning unit in the room was incredibly noisy and made for a rough night sleep on night 1. On night 2, I opened the window to allow for some “street white noise” and this helped to lessen the noises made when the unit turned on and off. Room was clean, housekeeping staff friendly and prompt to make our room up after night 1. I will note that the shower pressure was minimal, which made washing shampoo out of the hair challenging. The Oasis Waterpark is great. We missed the bulk of the Labour Day weekend travellers and had hours here to ourselves. Waterpark staff were incredibly kind. They also stay busy! Some observations from the Waterpark: - The slides are cleaned daily, which is great. It does result in minimal downtime for one/both slides for a bit, but I can appreciate keeping them clean. - The rest of the Oasis was kept clean, with staff frequently spraying things down. - I lost count of how many times water quality was tested for all bodies of water, great work. - Water in the main pool was pleasant, warm in the toddler pool, and a bit chilly in the pool where the water slides dump you. (Not a bad thing as it encourages people to move along out of the way quickly.) - Hot tubs were definitely hot! - It notes no people under 16 in the hot tubs but children were in them with their parents (we did the same, kids needed to warm up after the slides.) I see no issue with this if times are kept short. - Dry sauna was closed for the duration - The water slides are great but safety rules must be observed. We saw two injuries and both times it was when people were not following posted rules (tandem rides, entering the slide before the previous rider was most of the way down, sliding headfirst.) We will stay again so that we can visit the Waterpark.

Very nice property. The guestrooms are well maintained and adequate for a good night of sleep. Staff and cleanliness are great. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel lounge has a small menu, but great for a dinner or a drink.

My stay at Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Airport North was fantastic! The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, making it perfect for travelers. I loved the free shuttle service, which made getting to and from the airport a breeze. The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, providing a great night's sleep. I also appreciated the new coin laundry facilities, which were super convenient during my stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the complimentary breakfast had plenty of options to start the day right. Highly recommend for anyone traveling through Calgary!

Our flight departing Calgary was cancelled for 24 hours so we were put up in this hotel by the airline. The staff was pleasant and accommodating, special shout out to Stacey in the lounge who worked so hard to make sure everyone whose flight was cancelled was fed and full of drinks! Also special shout out to the chef that night, he was alone and still managed to get all the delicious food out in a timely manner! These two really stepped up and made our rather gloomy stay much more enjoyable! The rooms were clean and comfortable, big soft pillows on the beds and you could control your own room temperature. The front desk staff also accommodated a late check out for us as we had so much time to waste the next day. Thank you to the staff, you’ve really worked hard to turn our trip around!

We stayed here for 2 nights labour day long weekend in a king bed suite. There were so many little issues that if management cared to address them, would increase their rating and make the stay for guests so much better. First, we booked our room for 2 adults and 2 children, and still had to call down for more towels as only 2 was provided. We also had to call for bedding for the sofa bed as none was provided. It's like they didn't even look at our preferences or booking information to prepare the room accordingly for us. Second, it was just chaotic and unorganized. There was no parking at all when we would return in the evening. No parking in the underground garage and no parking outside. For both nights, we had to go to the front desk at which point, the manager would try and tetris all the excess vehicles into whatever possible spaces she could find. The breakfast area was overcrowded and dirty. Overflowing garbage bins, coffee ran out by 9:30am, then ran out of napkins, forks, etc. Not well prepared at all. What also didn't make sense was the made to order station. What a waste of staff when they are already clearly understaffed. It seemed like an attempt to control the consumption of their protein selection for the day eg. bacon or sausage. On our first morning, the made to order breakfast was bacon and egg croissant breakfast sandwiches. On the 2nd morning, it was an avocado and egg mcmuffin with a side of sausage. They should just have these all premade and out along with the rest of the buffet. Then you wouldn't need someone to staff that made to order station and just have them help out with the rest of the buffet by ensuring that tables are wiped, garbages are emptied, coffee and utensils etc are replenished. Third, for a hotel at pretty much capacity that weekend, they had one working elevator. There wasn't even a sign for the broken one, but you can tell that it was out of service since there was no light. We ended up using the stairs since the wait time for the elevators was ridiculous. Also, it looks like they are trying to update a few things as noted by all the plastering and painters tape. Yet we didn't see anybody working on these issues and overall, it was just an eye sore. Honestly, unless things improve, we would not stay here again. On the positive side, the room was spacious.

We were on our way to Mexico and had to overnight in Calgary. Hotel had free shuttle and it was available all day on the hour. Our room was quiet and the staff excellent. Our stay was short but we were treated like our business was appreciated. They let us know our room was ready by email. It has an on site restuarant with other options near by.

Shuttle is under reservation, thus it is guaranteed that you'll get a spot There is a microwave in our room perfect for reheating food we bought from the grocery store for breakfast.
