Wingate by Wyndham Mount Vernon

The stairs up to the door were dirty and the edging material missing in some places. No one was at the desk. Finally a young woman checked us in (slowly) and we made our way to our room. The elevator was very dirty, the hallway didn’t smell good and our room didn’t smell good. So I told my husband we can’t stay here. We spent some time looking for a different hotel and then went back to the check in desk. We said we needed to cancel our reservation and told the young woman we wanted a refund. She said she needed to call her manager. The manager said we would need to call her at her office the next morning. We asked for a business card - there wasn’t one available. We asked for a receipt and the young woman printed one for us. Overall, it as a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I have never seen a hotel so poorly maintained.

The whole place was dirty. The garbage cans in the halls were overflowing, did not get empty the 4 nights in was there. There was dirt and debris all over the floors whole time. Some of the walls had holes in them that were not repaired. They did not come in my room one time to clean, even though i had the “service please” placard on the door handle. I would not recommend staying here.

Front desk and cleaners did great work, but it's clear that the property is not being well maintained and on top of needed repairs. My bed was comfortable but curtains did not cover the windows (too small), resulting in no way block out security lights, sink faucet had leak with water spraying through the side of the faucet, tv remote broken. That said, staff were friendly and towels, bedding, and toiletries all clean.

The hotel is under a lot of renovations which may explain also why the staff is not attentive to how filthy the floors are, among other parts of the building. I do not envy the General Manager. No doubt good help is hard to find in Mt. Vernon. That fact shows up all over town.

The staff was nice and helpful but the room was terrible. I’ve never left a review but It was not properly cleaned. There was hair and dirt in the jacuzzi, garbage left behind, dirty ice bucket. The phone didn’t even have a cord to be able to use. No hair dryer, no hdmi setting. We made the best of it but we had our 7 month old with us so it was very off putting to have to clean the room ourselves.

Just a run down old Best Western with a new name. This just definitely wasn't what I expected when I booked. I am out of town visiting family in town and misread the pool being outdoors. When we asked the lady at the front, she was extremely sarcastic. The remote for the tv barely worked. A light switch was missing. The comforters tag was hanging out right next to my face on the bed. I would have stayed elsewhere having known better. Dont waste your money.

Our room was extremely gross with stains on the bed, the sheets and furniture. It had burn marks in carpet and curtains. The tv also didn’t work. The staff was really great though

The whole hotel smells like smoke, there were holes in the wall in our room and stains covering the carpet. The room is extremely sparsely furnished with dingy, damaged furniture. Definitely not worth $140 per night.

So it’s an older hotel and definitely shows signs of wear and tear. The staff was great! They were the shining stars. My tv wasn’t in the correct source and the remote didn’t have the corresponding button so they came right up and fixed it. (With a toggle on the tv.) After she left I went to brush my teeth and oooooh. There were shavings from beards and mustaches in both sinks. It was late and I really didn’t want to deal with changing rooms so I tried to rinse it out but it backed up and into the other sink. Yuck. I brushed in the shower. The room was pretty tired and dark, the couch old, but the room itself was hug. The bed was really clean and comfortable so I thought I’d get some sleep and it would be fine for one night. I almost dozed off when the first of three (or was it four) trains went by. The windows may be original and do nothing to dampen the sound. I just left the tv on and got up early to split. The breakfast bar is great and the other patrons seemed very nice. But I’ll stay somewhere else next time, even though it’s a really good value.
