Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel, Beirut
4.2/575 Reviews
This is a very good hotel in Beirut. Good location, hotel service and facilities are not bad. The lobby manager is very good, help us plan the travel route and help us charter. Entering the hotel has security check-ups and five days of trips to Lebanon have stayed at this hotel.
InterContinental Hotels Phoenicia Beirut
4.6/542 Reviews
Many of Beirut's ”golden age” hotels have disappeared after the war and it is wonderful to see Phoenicia evolve with the times while commemorating its glorious history. You can easily spend your entire vacation on the Phoenician track, there are several restaurants here (actually only the buffet at this hotel I think is very good), a nice scene of a small pool, excellent people watching in the lobby (during my stay, including the arrival of the Swiss president, wife, and accompanying staff). When you need to change the environment, St George's pool is a short walk across the street from the seaside park. It is definitely a great stay in Beirut.
ParkTower Suites

The hotel is comfortable, the room is large, I will choose to live here next time.
Saifi Suites

I had the pleasure of staying in Saifi Suites for nearly three weeks to prepare for a medical conference in Beirut. This hotel is truly wonderful. The rooms are clean, very spacious and well-equipped, as well as quiet. The WiFi is speedy and consistent (which is a rarity in Beirut!). Housekeeping is completed to a high standard. I ordered room service on occasion and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is brilliantly located and if, like me, you prefer to walk, you are within a few minutes of downtown Beirut and only a little further for Zaitunay Bay, Hamra, etc. The airport is also only a 15-minute drive. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and answered my various questions on how to get around the city on my first visit. In particular, the guys and girls working in reception are honestly great. All in all, I would happily recommend Saifi Suites and would be glad to stay again.
Sofitel Beirut le Gabriel
4.3/543 Reviews
This definitely is not a 5-star hotel, and well below the standards one would expect of a luxury hotel. The hotel is in need of refurbishment - the lifts are tiny (and shudder), and the rooms - whilst reasonably sized - are worn, with stains on the carpet and the upholstery. The bathrooms are small and poky, with dated fixtures. About the only thing that made it upscale were the Lanvin toiletries. There's not even a coffee machine in the room - only instant coffee is available. During the four nights I stayed, I was offered a turndown service only once (the other 3 nights I was out, so I don't know why they didn't just come in and do the turndown?). So the rooms are very much of a low grade. The pool and gym are in the basement. The gym is small, with very dated machines - neither the treadmill nor the elliptical machine worked at all. The cleaning staff were friendly. I never saw the front desk staff except upon arrival and departure, as they are hidden by a big pillar and work behind a plastic screen - it's not friendly or inviting. The security guard was mostly hunched over his mobile phone. So you feel quite ignored as you come and go. The location, however, is great - so close to lots of lovely bars and restaurants, and in a really lovely part of town. All in all, a disappointing Sofitel experience - far more in line with staying in a Ibis. Very expensive for what I got. I wouldn't stay again. And as for all of the other 5 star reviews...you will note that they're all by one- or two-time contributors, so I really question the authenticity. When you find a reviewer who has more than two reviews to their name, you'll see they also gave the Sofitel a low grade.

Rude and unwelcoming staff and generally not experienced professionals in the hospitality business. The main focus for them is the bar and the restaurant. I suggest you to focus on that because hosting guests is an art and serious business. From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome. No explanation besides “breakfast starts at 8.30” - “oh but we leave at 8” … silence. “Here is the key to your room” full stop, nothing else. No offerings to help us bringing the luggage upstairs - nothing ! We had to figure out ourself where the hair dryer was, which was weirdly not in the room but in the common hall ( why would you not invest in 5 hairdryer so that each guest have its own ? What if we decided to shower all at once ? ) Same goes for the kettle .. The room: the design is nice though in any western country the bathroom will be considered illegal but fine.. no privacy if you are traveling with a companion. Pillows… guys ( owners / managers ) have you slept in your rooms ? Because if you did, you would know that nobody would sleep comfortably on those pillows. The noise: probably the noisiest room I ever set foot in. It is impossible to sleep and it is not only of its location but also because of the poor quality windows. I went to bed at 12 am and managed to fall asleep at 5 am out of exhaustion, only to wake up 2 hrs later. The sounds of motorcycles, honking, car big and small, people laughing, screaming or simply talking, will accompany you for the entire night. Again, when asked for assistance, they simply said “ hotel is full” no apologies or Whatsoever. The staff itself will stand outside the building careless that there are sleeping guests upstairs. Again, clearly you have never slept in your rooms because if you did, you would pay your guests to sleep there and not the other way round. Skip the hospitality business and leave it to the real professionals who truly know how to host.
