Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets Reviews

We were happy with this place. It seems dated but in nice repair (much like our home and ourselves). We wanted it mostly for the fireplace but the room had more than that with a full kitchen and full size appliances. If we ever wanted to be in Banff and make substantial home cooked food, this would be ideal. The bed was great and the staff very kind and friendly. It is in a natural mountain area just five minutes by car from downtown Banff. We had a balcony looking at a Mountain view and deer in the yard in front of the unit. There is bus service into town and free tickets offered by the resort. There is a water slide and an indoor and outdoor hot tub which is nice but not really a breathtaking setting. If you enjoy corn mazes this building has a lot of routing in it that takes a while to learn. We joked with other guests about that. All in all, pretty okay. We would book here again.

A great stay

A very comfortable cabin with a large area and a kitchen, but there is a lack of seasonings so I can’t cook.

The hotel is a little far from the town of Banff. Although there is a bus station at the entrance of the hotel, it is more suitable for driving. The hotel facilities are a bit outdated, but they are still relatively easy to use. One-bedroom duplex apar**ent, including a big bed room on the first floor, a bathroom with bath, a living room connected to the kitchen and dining area, a double bed and a bathroom without bath on the second floor. The living room has a balcony and a fireplace. Wood is provided and you can heat your own fire. Of course, the room also provides heating. The kitchen is equipped with electric stove, electric oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, cooking utensils, cutlery, coffee machine, salt and pepper. The hotel has a gym and a small outdoor hot spring pool open, and the self-service laundry room is not yet open.

The hotel is located on the mountain, a distance from the city center of Banff, you need to take the bus down the mountain, walk for about 15-20 minutes, the scenery along the way is beautiful, you can encounter animals! The rooms in the hotel are spacious and comfortable, with kitchenettes and balconies, fully equipped, full of sunshine, and beautiful scenery from the balconies

Room was clean and quiet. Staff were courteous and helpful. Great transportation downtown with the free roam transit passes. It was unfortunate that the indoor pool and indoor hot tub were both closed and the outdoor hot tub was cold.

I loved the cabin atmosphere, was disappointed that the pool was closed since that was the main reason we stayed there and I even called ahead to make sure they were operational. There should have been a phone call made to all customers coming In that day about the issue but we were given a discount. Could be updated but otherwise it was a good stay.

Great mountain view and quiet but some burners on stove didn’t work and the kitchen was missing pans for the oven,

Good affordable option for families, rooms are a little dated but no one goes to banff to sit in the room. Play structure is great for the kids and the water slides are fun. Pool area could use a little upkeep though. Definitely recommend if you’re skiing or snowboarding with your family.

Older not up to date accommodations, but rooms were clean, beds were good, service punctual, parking included, price was excellent for an otherwise very expensive town. Only disappointment was the hot tub was not hot.

Condition of the facility is old, many things broken or on the edge of breaking. Hallways, paint, wallpaper, carpets are old.

We have been staying in Banff pretty often all year round but it was our first time stay in Douglas Fir. We love the location and the pool. We will definitely come back again.
