Begeti Bay Hotel

This is a cracking little hotel, albeit budget and no frills. If you’re into pool lounging, sunbathing and mingling with new people, this place is perfect. If you crave dancing, singing, and generally lively atmosphere, not for you. The hotel staff are some of friendliest I’ve ever encountered, always a smile and a hello daily. The AI food is varied daily with a few repeats, usually the Greek salad, which is the best ever The pool is a refreshing dip when eventually in after a morning in the sunshine The rooms are cleaned daily with clean towels However, It does have a couple of downsides, first being the lack of nightly entertainment (excusable not to have for the price paid, but even karaoke would’ve been a small bonus) Second being the AI drinks, little over sugared to my taste, and the non branded spirits are very weak in strength, TIP:- buy a duty free bottle to take on way Last thing is the shared transfer from Chania airport, WHOA, that is a 2hr 30min transfer you can do without, if you can afford it, or want to to avoid the time transfer, take a private transfer each way. Oh, and take mosquito spray, repellent, little bleeders will get ya. Other than, I will say, take cash for the arrival to reception to pay the country resort fee, €7 per room per night And have all your hotel booking voucher details to hand on arrival. Rethymno is a 20 minute bus ride away and worth it to get out for a day, tickets cost€2 from hotel shop, I preferred this over car rental. The beach isn’t much to shout about, but there is a beach around a 5 minute walk away. There is a free to use safe in the room, and fridge. Air-con is really good for a cool nights sleep Wi-Fi is free around the hotel and grounds, but it gets a little hit and miss All in all we had a great time, I’d recommend this quaint and quiet hotel, but sadly we won’t be back, big wide world out there to see.

Dreadful hotel in a dreadful place. Rooms are poor with little in them, food is very poor and the area around the hotel is quite run down. The beach nearby is dangerous and the back of the beach which is essentially the road is falling onto the beach. Not safe at all. Just go elsewhere.

Wonderful and amazingly friendly family run hotel. Perfectly located by the 90 motorway for easy access to the East and West. The hotel has a vegetable field next to it growing tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchinis, melons, figs, sweetcorn, potatoes, and grapes. All meals have delicious freshly harvested vegetables and salad. A special thank you to the amazing staff - Melina, Kosta, Nikos, Lia, Debbie, Daniella, and everyone else including the cleaning staff who are always so hard working, attentive, accommodating, and amazingly friendly. Begeti Bay staff - you are the best hotel staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting👍😊 Keep up the good work and carry on smiling 😃 We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Begeti Bay. Wai.

Lovely place, everyone was so welcoming nothing was any effort, long time since I have had such an amazing holiday with absolutely nothing to complain about, even a bottle of water in the fridge along with a bottle of wine, it was fabulous, you have got it right, Kathleen Cook and Shirley Baker

Wow! What can I say. Having read the reviews we were hopeful for pleasant stay and we got that and more. Following a long day travelling we arrived at the hotel early hours of the morning. The staff were the most attentive staff in any hotel I’ve stayed at. They offered us food and drinks and seen that we’re settled in allowing us to return to reception the following day to check in. The room was basic but spotlessly clean with a balcony and sea view. I’ve paid over treble the amount to stay in recommended hotels and not had the same positive review. The food was fresh and each day guests were taken to help pick the fresh produce grown within the hotel grounds. Lemons, fresh mint, apricots. As well as being fresh it was plentiful too. The was traditional Greek entertainment at the hotel along with disco and poolside music daily. On he day of checkout we were able to book a late checkout, an additional 40 euros until 4pm, we were planning on heading into the town to grab an evening meal before the 9.30pm bus collection but we were invited into the restaurant by the staff to eat despite having checked out. The hotel really is great valu for money, a beautiful location with the most attentive staff.

Stayed here for a week. The staff are some of the nicest and most helpful I’ve seen at a hotel. They clearly want you to have the best stay possible and are so happy and attentive. In my opinion it is not a 4* hotel but the staff certainly made it the stay it was. All in all had a really good time. Ate out at restaurants most evenings but that was mainly to see more of the island. Pros Staff are very friendly, welcoming and always happy to help with any queries etc. two people in particular were the lady in the restaurant and the one who usually works reception in the morning. (Both names I forgot to ask) Restaurant and pool area are very clean and well maintained. Location is very secluded however close to bus stops and taxis to go to neighbouring towns which are 30 mins maximum away. Food is good. Enough variety. Cons First room we got put in was filthy, dead cockroaches that had been there for sometime and smelt badly of damp. Staff moved us however when asked and the other room was better. Drinks selections are very basic. One beer on tap. Wine and cocktails made in a soda machine and do not taste as labeled. No other choices. Plumbing is really bad so water from shower and toilet would leak from drain in bathroom floor. Smell of urine about most mornings in the bathroom coming from the drains. Hotel is advertised as a 4*. Although the staff and their service are most certainly more than that, the hotel itself along with the food and drink is not 4* at all.

Once again to one of the best hotels we have ever been to. Nice, comfortable & practical rooms cleaned daily by really kind women, delicious and really quality food for an all inclusive hotel, upgraded all inclusive menu with a lot of tasty drinks and the highlight of this hotel the staff. Many thanks to Lia, Melina, Kosta and Vagelis. Our experience was amazing and the value for money was incredible once more. We will definately come back!

This hotel is a great place to relax, enjoy soaking up the sun and a swim in the pool. Hotel staff are absolutely amazing, especially Kostas and the other two bar staff (apologies, we didn’t get your names!). It would have been better for a little more entertainment in the evenings but the nights they had were fantastic! Unfortunately, the food and drinks were not very good which lead to us eating out every evening for the last part of our holiday. Overall, we had a good time.

The place was amazing very clean beds were a little on the hard side and not much entertainment but didn’t spoil our stay lots of food to choose from and not too repeative staff are very friendly and helpful would highly recommend special thanks to vaggelis always keeping our drinks topped up Mr Jason’s Wife
