Craven Shepherd Huts

Spent two nights in this very well appointed Herdwick wagon , only wish it had been longer . The three wagons are set back from the rear car park and elevated so some feeling of privacy and seclusion. Our wagon was very clean and surprisingly spacious with a fully functional shower room/toilet with heated floor , what a treat. The wagon also had a lovely little pot bellied stove which on colder days would have made it very cozy , unfortunately for us the weather was superb in the high 20’s . The bed was particularly comfortable and large and after a days hike , a lovely meal and pint in the pub was the perfect end to the day . So often the first night in a new bed in unfamiliar surroundings can be uneasy ….. no such issue here in this tranquil setting with only the distant sound of sheep . Highly recommend , if we ever return to Yorkshire we will for sure wish to stay here but for longer . I should also say everyone we met employed at pub/restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely relaxing 3 night stay in the shepherd hut on the doorstep of the beautiful Craven Arms. A nice welcome box of assorted breakfast items was there when we arrived. The hut was so warm and cozy with underfloor heating and log burner and the view was breathtaking.

Everything we needed and lots of things to do close by Inc walks, waterfalls, steam train and gardens.

Fabulous stay, small, cosy, intimate and cute. Well equipped, very nicely done and spotless. Great pub next door, excellent food, service and a**osphere. Would definitely return.

Good location with walks directly from the door. The hut whilst relatively basic has a good shower however limited wet shave facilities as sink is far to small with no motor. Personally I think a small fridge would add so much more convenience. Lovely welcome pack of Tea Coffee and a small selection of breakfast items. We took our dog and where the huts are positioned would suggest the owners put a gate between the hut and carpark. I guess just need to be mindful it’s a Shepards Hut so won’t have luxuries

First time staying in a shepherds hut so not sure what to expect but we had a lovely surprise. Spotlessly clean, lots of lovely "extras" such as breakfast pack, fresh milk when you need it from the Craven Arms pub, underfloor heating and an extremely comfortable bed. But the best bit were the people in the pub and Ali the lady who takes care of the huts. Our daughter was camping down the road with her family but became ill overnight. We cannot thank Ali , the bar manager and other staff for their kindness and consideration enough. Nothing was too much trouble and we are grateful for their support. Would definitely recommend this as an unusual, and beautiful place to stay

What an amazing little find. Absolutely spotless, the pub it's self is a very old querky pub, with huge character. The food is gorgeous aswell..

Excellent location. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Excellent to have a wood burning stove in the hut, for me a real selling point. However a shortage of fuel was a problem after asking repeatedly at the pub where check in/ out is managed there was still no fuel brought and while there was a small amount to start with it soon ran out and also it was peat log fuel so not as eco friendly as it could be however still very cosy and warm. Underfloor heating was nice although still quite cold at night and no extra blankets provided. Overall very nice stay and no real complaints. If suggest to owner the following points... A clock in hut would be useful. Extra blankets or similar Increase fuel supply maybe? Extra shelf or similar on Wall at foot of bed? Seriously though had a lovely time. Thank you so much!
