Pier Encounter is a very nice place, close to the ancient bridge. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Views from corner rooms and garden were fantastic, before constructions started. Unfortunately there is some construction or down the river which resulted in river has been emptied. Dams were demolished and excavator and trucks are now in the river bed. Basically river looks like construction site. There is no boats traveling in the river. The ancient bridge still looks very nice. All in all - i recommend this place, but best to wait till construction is finished. On issue we had was the hotel location inside the App. Hotel is shown correctly inside CTrip. But when we clicked ”directions” button, and we get transferred to the baidu maps for navigation - baidu took us to the opposite side of the river. We arrived in the middle of the night but we were on wrong side of the river. It would be suggest that Ctip corrects the issue so when we click ”directions” the address is converted to baidu maps correct.

This place was perfect for me. If you want to avoid the touristy parts of Yangshuo so you can see more authentic village life, while also enjoying 1st class comfort, great food, great views, and easy access to beautiful river rafting and biking trails, this may be the place for you too. I never saw a single other Westerner in the vicinity of the hotel. I got to practice my Chinese, socialize with locals, take baths on my balcony, sit on the hotel roof breathing in the mountains. They offer free bikes for touring the countryside and I made a day of it, went off-roading on dirt trails between rice paddies, swam in the Yulong River (be careful - not recommended for everyone - tough waters), went bamboo rafting on the river. Just spectacular and very peaceful. The owners of this hotel are so kind too. And very competent.

We booked a non-smoking room but the room has an ash tray. There's no elevator and we need to carry the suitcase up 3 floors. Shower has no curtain so the water splashes all over the toilet. Shower is broken and water pressure is low. Shower head does not hang properly on the holder and water flows to the floor. I was almost tripped over when going to the washroom at night because the floor has two levels. One level is higher because of wood floor laid on top of existing. No clothes rack in the room so we moved the rack from the balcony for use. No side table on one side of the bed. The entrance of the hotel is on a narrow alley and no way we knew where it was until the driver called them to pick us up from the main street.

The point is that there is a parking lot, but you need to pay 10 yuan for overnight stay. The hotel staff's service is really good, so I don't mind it!

The fly in the ointment is that there are local village names everywhere thinking about making money, stopping the electric car to take pictures, and there are uncles and aunts chasing you for parking fees. Ruyifeng is even more excessive, even the security guards charge you 9 yuan for the parking fee of the electric car. It is said to be a day, basically 2.5 an hour, and the Ruyifeng cableway will leave. It is more expensive to park a car in the urban parking lot in other cities. A bottle of ordinary mineral water in the scenic spot sells for 5 yuan. There are many more photos for you in the name of free photos, and the fee is mandatory.
