We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Quest. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the staff very welcoming. We stayed in a 1br apartment with accessible shower. The bed was comfortable and kitchen very functional. Restaurants are just across the road as are the shops. We found the restaurants welcoming and very obliging, offering free delivery to the room which we enjoyed. Would definitely stay there again.

When i book through trip.com the confirmation email said the check out time is 12:00pm but in fact the check out time is 10:00am. The staff knock on my door at 10:10am and ask me to check out, otherwise will charge me for the late check out. It was so embarrassing. Location was good 5 mins to westfield shopping centre

We were looking for somewhere affordable with two bedrooms and free parking. As we were only planning to spend two jet-lagged nights there, location did not have to be prime. This place fit the bill. There is a nice mall (Westfield Newmarket) that is a short walk away. The only issue I had was receiving a package here. I had notified hotel staff in advance, and I was hoping to find it waiting in my room when I arrived. Unfortunately because no one told me to put the office room number in the address, the package was returned by NZ Post. The staff member on duty did try to help me track it down. By then there was no point in redelivering as I would be off to my next destination.

We stayed here on the evening of the all black match. Hotel was clean and tidy, room type was a Super king. Bed and pillows were great , room was clean and tidy. Bottle water in fridge. Outlook from window was motorway. Free parking. Only downside is the smoke alarm has a flashing yellow light a few times each minute Reception staff were professional a day friendly. Less than 5 minute walk to Westfield Newmarket. Would happily stay again. Room 2012

We had traveled to Auckland for the Armageddon event at ASB show grounds and pretty much searched for rooms in the general area based on price, Siesta motel was one of the cheapest and so maybe our hopes weren't too high thinking that it was just going to be a place to spend a night or two. We were very pleasantly surprised, everything about the room looked brand new and spotless, it had cooking facilities, a bathroom that looked amazing and had a shower with enough pressure to knock you over. The comfortable KING size bed with awesome foam pillows was so nice. Our room faced onto Great South road but there was no road noise at all. The lady on the front desk was very friendly and helpful, genuinely interested in our stay and experience, we left the car at the motel most of the weekend and walked to ASB showgrounds, a little bit of a hike but not too bad for anyone with average fitness, we grabbed an Auckland Transport hop card from the nearest dairy though and caught the bus back, the Number 70 bus stops directly outside the motel on Great south road and we used this to head into the city for dinner and a few drinks so we had no worries about driving or parking. Couldn't fault this place at all and will absolutely book again for next year, highly recommended.

Fantastic place, extremely clean and tidy. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. It had everything you need in a kitchen to make the basics - though we just made a cheese etc platter and then had a few glasses of wine. TV in both the lounge and the bedroom. I was able to arrange early check-in, I just phoned ahead on the day to make sure it was still okay. Very quiet. Such a great location; a home away from home really. Will 100% be back!

Having to come to Auckland after the sudden death of my father we were pleased to be able to book our first night at the Quest, but disappointed we couldn’t stay for the duration of our visit. Again superb service on arrival which was again surpassed after lunch. Arriving back at the hotel , Atek the duty manager advised us that due to a cancellation and changes made by the staff we could in fact stay at the Quest for our time here. Atek your empathy, efficiency and caring made a difficult situation so much better. The Quest Hotel is indeed fortunate to have you as an employee and you will always be remembered by us for your caring and genuine understanding. The word has been spread around my family and friends. Well done Atek and the Quest. Again nothing but superb service and accommodation. Thank you. Mike and Kay Legge. May 09 2022.

Originally through work I was booked a studio room - when I checked in the lady at the front desk was lovely. When I entered my room it smelled strongly of cleaner but unfortunately the bathroom/shower area was still disappointing. There was a lot of mould and grime in the shower area and the grout of the tiles. I couldn't have showered there. When I went back to the front desk to explain, and enquire about another room, I was kindly upgraded to one of the apartments beside the Burger King and had a much more pleasing stay. The apartment was new, sleek, super clean and had beautiful finishings. I would definitely stay in the apartments again. It was near to lots of different eateries, conveniently close to the motorway and a great location.

The outlook is beautiful, the room was lovely and clean. However, unfortunately we got the room next to the kitchen and it was very noisy, not well insulated at all. The kitchen is fantastic and very well equipped. The guy who booked us in was lovely. The only issue we had was that the owner charges 4% surcharge for using a card to pay which is a total rip off, especially when the payment is processed on line by them. The banks do not charge 4%.

Location is in the city of Parnell, more than half an hour's walk from the CBD. This is the palace of the Queen of Tonga. It is a relatively simple holiday home, 3 floors, wooden structure, high lift, kitchen to cook by yourself, shared bathroom - good hot water, washing machine, garden. There is a supermarket nearby. If you want to cook for yourself, you can go back and buy ingredients. There is also a very lively street nearby, with some cafes, restaurants and small shops. Less than five minutes walk, you can go to the Holy Trinity Church and St. Mary's Church. Overall is good. The service is basically invisible, the store is small, and no service personnel can be seen. Upon arrival, the room was ready and clean. Other self-help is just fine. There is a small heating in the house, very intimate.

The swimming pool was green with algae, also a rusty BBQ in the pool area - note pool area was closed!. The paths leading to the units was overgrown with plants and shrubs, I was concerned that I may trip on overgrowth. The TV didn't work, the curtains were hanging off the track, the chair had a massive hole in the seat, there was no microwave, nothing in the under bench fridge ie no water or milk. At least the bed was comfortable. Would I recommend this accommodation - NO.

I didn't stay at the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch, but I thought about staying in Auckland to experience the style of the historical buildings! A little disappointed, the room is very big, the inside is very old, and the layout is very strange🤣 Outside the window is a messy dump, no one helps with luggage, the room aisle is very long, and the old wooden floor is creaking There is a sense of antiquatedness from a long time ago, without the texture of cultural tradition The location is very good, the Sky Tower is just outside the door! It's only the size of Auckland, and the Sky Tower is beside you when you walk there😄

Our family of 5 stayed during a 3 night holiday to Auckland, choosing this accommodation as not many can accommodate 3 child families, and also liked the location within close proximity to the mall etc. The layout and space was good but that's pretty much where it ends. It appears that some of the units may have been renovated but our unit was obviously not one of them. The room was rough, with holes in walls purely patched, one electrical socket was even hanging out of the wall. Our bathroom window would not shut probably so we had to ensure lights were off to reduce bug visitors. The place was also grotty, the sink etc needed a good clean, initially I thought the old timber etc might just be stained etc due to age but one wipe of a tissue over the skirting board revealed thick dust. The light fitting in the bathroom was full of dead bugs. About 3 blown bulbs in the unit. The crockery was stained and much of it with chips and cracks. The location and space means with some much needed TLC our unit would be great... but as it stands we wouldn't stay here again as for $235 per night we were terribly disappointed.

Facilities, location & amenities are good in the studio rooms. Cleanliness was really good, the only thing would be that because there are no windows in the room there is a musty smell every time you enter it, having come from outside. The service would be an area for improvement more so around knowledge. When signing the room contract I was asking the receptionist questions about how to do early check out and what is turndown service but she said she didn’t know much about the contract and didn’t she didn’t advise us that to get a “2nd key” we needed to download an app to gain access to our rooms as we had to use the keycard we were given for powering the room. Also functions on our TV weren’t working so we called the receptionist and he said it should be there, but the HDMI option wasn’t showing. So he finished our phone call with I don’t know, we can’t help you with that, we don’t have a technician. I managed however to work it out using Google.

Ponsonby

Along with Parnell, Ponsonby is our favourite place to stay in Auckland. We stayed at the Great Ponsonby Art Hotel again this year and have no regrets. We always enjoy returning here. Parking is no problem in the hotel grounds or on the street. The small, beautifully furnished hotel offers the kind of hospitality we like most: the staff are attentive and very friendly. The service has been just perfect. This time there were three of us travelling together and we booked the penthouse room and one of the three pavilions behind the house. The balcony and garden are perfect for enjoying an aperitif or a take-away menu. If you're lucky, the odd bird will pay you a visit - this time a kingfisher was a special guest. The rooms are clean and pleasantly large. The pavilions are outfitted with new bath rooms. The cooked breakfast is a dream, just like in the good old days when there were many more B&Bs in New Zealand than there are today. Ponsonby Street has a great selection of restaurants and there is something to suit almost every palate. We were never disappointed. And last but not least Ponsonby is perfectly located for a stroll to the CBD and many sights as the Auckland Museum or the Auckland Art Gallery. We shall return.

This is a European-style classical-style homestay. The housekeeper is a native of Auckland and a humorous and wise elder. Here you can feel friendly, warm and comfortable, and immersive feeling of New Zealanders' lives ~ Environment: It is enough to see the details. A European-style old house, the living room and dining room rooms are full of sense of time, living here is like a princess room in a fairy tale. The homestay is located on a quiet road in the Auckland CBD area, and there is a small park from the University of Auckland, which is both quiet and convenient. Facilities: The room has a certain sense of age, the facilities are slightly old, some rooms have separate bathrooms but only screen partitions, and some rooms have public bathrooms. This is a rare shortcoming in the house, but considering the age and decoration style of the room, it is understandable. Hygienic: Although the facilities are old, the room is very clean. The owner cleans it very carefully and there will be no unsatisfactory places. Service: The service is completely beyond expectations, and the owner likes to chat with the guests with humor. Breakfast is a typical English breakfast, with salads, toast and a variety of jams, as well as fried eggs and bacon, customized according to the needs of the guests, and can feel the owner's full intentions. The world map next to the restaurant is full of guest footprints, which is enough to illustrate the friendliness, tolerance and comfort here. If you want to experience the leisurely life of locals in New Zealand, it is highly recommended, but if you want more modern and standardized accommodation, you may have to consider it again.~

Ian was very accommodating - when we checked in, we weren’t sure how many nights we would need as our flight had not been re-booked at that time, so he moved us to a room that was available for at least 3 nights. Our room (12) was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. The mall at New Lynn is within walking distance and has plenty of food options as well as shops. The motel provided great value for money in our opinion.

Do not stay here. This place is absolutely disgusting. I have never been so grossed out in my life. The sheets were filthy and made everyone’s skin itchy. We ended up staying awake the whole night to protect our belongs and not to catch what ever was in the beds. The bathroom was the worst part. The roof and walls were covered an green and black mould and the shower floor was grimey and slippery. The motel is hosting Housing New Zealand guest who are extremely noisy parting until early hours of the morning. Cars were racing up and down the driveway all night and the other guest were threatening us and implying they were going to steal our belongings. We had to drop our car to a family members in Auckland as we were told the car would be broken into if we left it in the car park. When we approached the manager and explained our distress he said “ you are a liar , you have a plan and trying to get your money back from me” We explained we were not looking for money, we wanted him to realise this place is foul and not suitable for guests. He kept saying “you are a liar, you are a dirty liar , you planted the dirt”. We explained we had seen illegal activity within the premises and he told us he was going to contact the other guest to come “have a chat” with us. We stayed in a city facing studio on the sixth floor. The bed was comfortable and daily servicing of the room okay. The facilities are quite good with adequate crockery and cutlery, a cooker and dishwasher. Also the shower room incorporates a washing machine and drier which we used successfully. Powder and d/w powder were supplied and replaced as used. Towels were decent quality and replaced daily. Not luxurious accommodation but served our needs well. It’s pretty much a backpacker’s hostel. Once that’s realized, expectations are adjusted accordingly. Let’s get the negatives out of the way: - must check out by 10 AM - there’s no air conditioning. There are fans, but at night, in summer, the rooms are uncomfortably warm. Everything else is positive. The location I felt was excellent. 20 minutes walk to the CBD; 30 minutes to the ferry terminal. You are right at Ponsonby, which is a main street for restaurants and coffee shops. There is an excellent supermarket one block away ( 5 minutes walk ). The lodge is very clean, and there’s a good community kitchen, where you can store your food as well as cook. I opted to pay + $20 per night extra for a private bath, but the hostel offers many bathrooms with showers. There are 2 washing machines and 1 dryer, each requiring NZD 6. The airport shuttle - Skydrive - operates from the Sky tower, a 20 minute walk. Here are the directions from the Sky Tower, which is on Hobson Street. Take Hobson for about 3 blocks, to Pitt Street. Go left on Pitt. Just one block on Pitt, on your right, you see a big, blue sign that reads “BECA”. After only one block on Pitt, with Beca Company on the right, that is Hopetoun Street. Go to the right. You will go up a bridge, with the expressway beneath you. As soon as you cross the bridge, you pass a girl’s grammar school, and Verandahs Lodge is clearly marked on the right, about the 4th building. The airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes, costs NZD 18 ( 12.50 for seniors ), and you pay driver, but only credit cards are accepted.
