Haitang Bay Sanya|24.46km from downtownI want to first thank the excellent team at Fairmont Sanya for taking such good care of my family and I during our stay. From the very first greeting upon arrival through to the kind service during check-in and throughout our stay I can safely say this is a top notch experience overall. Especially grateful to Vedat Yildirim and the team that took care of us when we were met with the unfortunate experience of having to leave this great hotel and go to a quarantine! (we had a close contact case with someone on the airplane on the way to Sanya).
Generally speaking we over index on 'facilities' and 'hardware' and under-index when it comes to 'service'. The smile you receive from staff, the helpful hand to carry things or point out others. It just makes a world of difference. And also it is the HARDEST thing to improve. It takes a lot of effort to train staff, to build a culture of courtesy and really deliver something that feels 5-star.
For comparison, I have been to just about every single major hotel in Sanya (Rosewood, JW, Edition, Park Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, ... ) and I think only the Ritz Carlton can compare when I'm talking about the software/service of an experience. Something that makes you feel you are being taken care of. Yes, Edition is 'trendier', yes Park Hyatt has a nicer beach... but honestly - I'm kinda tired of overhyped hotels full of fake-KOLs taking selfies (I'm looking at you Rosewood. Stay at Rosewood and see if A) the bar is open or B) even if all their restaurants open - they don't have enough competent or trained staff. It's just the reality.)
So I'll definitely be considering other Fairmont hotels in the future for business travel and return trips to Sanya.
