Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lake Okeechobee

It's a good value and good location. The front desk manager made sure I was well-aware of the amenities and cautioned me to not walk around the shoreline (gators) which was nice to hear. It was good to get a short orientation as I checked in. She told me about the pool hours, breakfast, parking and was very pleasant. The room is dated, but with the photos posted here, I don't know who couldn't see that. Real wood furniture lasts, so of course they're not going to throw solid furniture away because it isn't in vogue. If you want new furniture that's cheaply-made, spend 3 times the price and stay at a new hotel. I kind of like the old look as it reminds me of vacations we took when we were kids. You're here to fish and sightsee, not sit inside and disparage the furniture style. The mattress is in great shape, though! The room was clean and the hotel isn't noisy at night. The parking lot is HUGE, too. I was here on business, but I can see why people would want to stay here for an inexpensive overnight or a fishing trip. Good price and it's as-advertised.

Positives: Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the clean, large, heated pool. Breakfast was extensive, well stocked with superb fresh and hot food including excellent omelettes, bagels, waffles, cereals, yogurts etc. Hotel was clean, with clean stairwells, and elevators, and ice machines on every floor. Clean gym. Parking was easy, and free, and the hotel had many access points, making it simple to unload the vehicle. Luggage trolleys were a nice touch. The room itself was large, as was the bathroom that had an excellent walk in shower, with actual glass sliding doors. The shower was powerful, good quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner, and body lotion was available on tap. There is plenty of drawer and cupboard space everywhere. AC was extremely good and accurate. Really nice that coffee was available 24/7 in the lobby, especially de-caf, which doesn't seem to be an option in some hotels. Everything was sign posted well, with good directions. Negatives/Weird: It was nice to have a coffee machine in the room, but but who's idea was to put it in the bathroom? YUK! WEIRD & DISGUSTING! Bed was comfortable, but we didn't like fighting for the smallish sheet all night, and the hard (and smelling of perfume) comfort (quilt cover). Big disappointment as there was no safe in the room, so we had to carry our firearms, money, credit cards etc. with us wherever we went. Room could do with a paint, and new carpet, and proper repair of holes in a wall. Hotel wasn't as inexpensive as equivalent hotels in Orlando.

We stayed here for 4 nights. This is an older 2 story hotel. The room furnishings could use an update. Here's our pros and cons list: PROS: our room was clean; the beds were comfortable; there was a microwave and mini-fridge in the room; good shower head water pressure; charging outlets in the parking lot for Lake Okeechobee boaters needing to recharge their boat trolling motor batteries. CONS: no coffee maker in the room! No breakfast (there is a McDonalds right next door you can walk to); the room lighting was dim, especially in the bathroom; there are several printed out sheets of 'policies' taped to the lobby greeting desk that was a bit off-putting. Overall, an okay place to stay for a few nights, but not for an extended period.
