Just on our last day out of 5, if your thinking of booking here thinking your going to get quality don’t bother, this hotel is getting seriously shabby having stayed here before 10years ago it’s gone seriously downhill since! PROS: Friendly Staff Kettle in room CONS: Dated miserable rooms flakey headboards, bad lighting, horrendously over priced mini bar, cleaning standards are poor, the hairdryer broke and the maintenance guy fetched another that should have screwed to the wall just plugged it in and expected me to use it with the wall incasing stuck to the wire, I went out and bought one. Pool area seriously dirty, the ground is never washed, toilets never have soap and rarely have toilet roll, drinks at the bar way overpriced, €9 for a smoothie and Diet Coke. Breakfast is horrific the layout makes no sense everyone bumping into each other, condiments at the beginning so everyone’s backing up, food is cold, Bacon is slimy, queue for coffee machine takes the mick, the cups are so small it’s gone in two mouthfuls, never any melon or fresh tomatoes just tinned fruit, I went out and bought my own things to take down and just had the toast. We got bitten quite badly too in the day which was strange as we’ve never been bitten in Spain before, think it’s the grubbiness of the hotel there were loads of stale water puddles around the pool area. The gym is the very worst hotel gym I have used there are 2 bikes and 2 cross trainers none of them work, just there for show hardly any matching weights either and god knows the last time it was cleaned, it’s like the forgotten room. This hotel is in serious need of renovation, it should now way be given 4 star status a 3 and a poor 3 at that

This is a Warning about the times chosen to eat half board at Hotel Melina. We've just returned from a weeks stay based on half board. We chose to have Breakfast and Dinner instead of Breakfast and Lunch. Breakfast wasn't bad , very average for Spain but it was the food quality and selection on the Evening Dinner that let us down. The first meal on the Sunday seemed to be pretty good but then it went down hill. You could tell that some of the food was recycled dishes from Lunch, the soup was limited and not an attractive option. We were usually one of the first into the Dining room ( due to late and starving) which didn't open UNTIL 8pm. Not Good. It was only on the Thursday that we decided to have a sneak into the LUNCHTIME session to see what was served up on that sitting as against our Dinner Menu. We found a BIG difference in the Selection and quality on offer at Lunch. Things like Paella (my favourite) Corn on the Cob, Better items on offer including a big better choice of Soups and Quantity all which we never had on our Dinner Menu. We felt we had been mugged by the food on offer on our Evening Dinner dining menu. So our Warning is DON'T CHOOSE THE 8PM DINING you get a much better choice and selection on the LUNCHTIME menu. Plus 8pm is a bit too late to have to wait for your Evening dinner but its a very Spanishy traditional Hotel which probably accounts for the late situ. As far as the hotel itself is concerned, it was brilliant. Spotlessly clean, great staff, lovely room, quiet position, comfy beds, convenient location.

We went on 11th March for a week half board, only two faults for us, the lifts can be slow and as on front the patio windows not sound proof, I am a light sleeper but room was great, spacious and a fridge too plus cleaned every day. Beds were large and comfy. We loved breakfast and evening meal, the Spanish red paprika sausages are gorgeous plus vast choice of fruits etc and pastries. Hot chocolate in silver urn & churro every morning, can order omelettes too Evening meal was good always different meats, Mexican night plus pizza every night. I had sea bass one night & roast beef another night Good selection of cheeses too, won’t go hungry The pool is fabulous we went in was cold in March The staff were all helpful & my friend left her handbag in restaurant one night but reception had it after I had help via Google translate with security Checkin was slow mind but they have a room for suitcases on day home & room to shower/change Would stay again definitely and kids club/activities look good Big bar and lounge areas too
Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa, a Royal Hideaway Hotel

This is a very beautiful hotel, the gardens and pool areas are truly spectacular, however….. There is minimal service at the pools, it is difficult to get a drink and impossible to get any food or snacks which is a great shame as they could capitalise on this. Instead you are charged for changing your pool towel during the day €2 I believe which is pointless and only makes the customer angry at the meanness of such an expensive hotel. The pools are not heated - even the heated pool doesn’t feel heated. Although there are many restaurants they are not open every day - usually only one or two are open so it’s not quite the choice it appears. The quality of the food is poor and greatly overpriced. At the Italian restaurant the food was very poor except for the Mille Fueille dessert which was incredible - the pastry and the presentation were stunning. The main restaurant at the weekends is so overcrowded, it’s impossible to even get a pot of coffee as there are not enough staff. The room itself was the lowest available and perfect with a small garden. There wasn’t any milk for a cup of tea which would improve the stay for me anyway. I would like to say that one particular chap at the adult pool (at the bottom right of the gardens) he worked so hard all day keeping the beds, parasols and towels in order, keeping his customers happy - he was very conscientious about his job and really should be recognised for this. He worked Saturday and Sunday until around 4pm (that was 02/10/22) I would go back because the grounds and hotel in general are a treat for the eye but I would eat out elsewhere unless the prices are greatly reduced. Don’t be put off but be aware of a few faults which could be easily mended.

Firstly, the location is great and value for money. Stayed for 5 nights in a suite with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The balcony was a good size. Per pictures expected bung beds and got an uncomfortable settee. The other beds were hard but paper thin walls with next door snoring and tv you could hear from next door. This hotel doesn’t cater for English, and we found the majority of the staff to be unhelpful and looked miserable. The bar staff were under pressure at nights and you struggled to get a drink. The day we left there was a very helpful lady on reception who organised a taxi for us. The food was ok, normal gripe that it’s not that warm but find that in Spain. They put on a Christmas Eve banquet which was very nice, maybe by charging more every day the food could be at that quantity. We found the entertainment wasn’t that great and it looked like the same two acts returned every week.

Looked to stay in the Old Town and the location couldn’t be better on “Gin and Tonic” street with Tapas Alley next door. It’s an excellent 3 star hotel, everything is immaculately clean, room was spacious (we had a leak from upstairs in the bathroom on arrival, which was taken care of immediately or we had the choice of another room, so cannot fault the staff) Lovely roof terrace to sunbathe and the barman in the downstairs bar was friendly and attentive. It was lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by in the evening. We went half board and are not fussy eaters, however, the food was mostly cold at both breakfast and dinner which would put us off booking half board again. They just need to invest in some hot plates and that would be remedied though. Lovely to have a bottle of wine included in the evening meal and again, everything is very clean. Would we return? Yes. As it’s such a great location, Staff are attentive and the place is sparkling. For a 3 star hotel you get what you pay for, rooms are basic and functional but the staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a nice holiday. For a cheap getaway it’s an ideal base to explore the Old Town but also close to Levante and the new town, so the best of both worlds.
