This used to be my go-to hotel whenever I visited Shanghai, but after this experience, there won't be a next time. I booked a room and wanted to confirm it was the one I wanted, but the hotel staff were uncooperative. They told me to just check the photos on Ctrip. My emails were completely ignored. What used to be the drop-off/pick-up area for guests is now the hotel reception. Guests have to get in and out of cars on the main road, and then we're greeted by steps without a bellhop. Maybe I just had bad luck, but I had to carry my own luggage up the steps. This was the case for both check-in and check-out. Drivers were also hesitant to stop on the main road to pick us up, only daring to park across the street from the hotel, so we had to drag our luggage over ourselves. Upon arriving, I realized the room types seemed different from before. I had booked the wrong one and needed to pay the price difference – over 2,100 RMB for one night. Even after being acquired by a new group a few years ago, there haven't been any renovations. The room floors and bathrooms are still the same. The old 24-hour lounge is also gone. However, the room view is as stunning as ever, absolutely breathtaking. But the room itself is just as old as it was years ago. Parts of the shower floor were slippery, and the bathtub couldn't hold water. The maintenance team came to fix it quickly, which was good, and the staff were friendly, but the room is just outdated. The breakfast is still good, and the robot service is very efficient. Overall, the room is old, and the staff's service is generally subpar. At this price point, it really offers poor value for money. It's a shame. This was once my favorite hotel in Shanghai.
