花果山是连云港头牌景点，交通很方便，至少有三条常规公交线到那里。下车往前走两三百米就是售票处，还有游客中心及停车场，建议先去游客中心领张免费地图。如果网上买票的话，不用取，直接入口处刷二维码即可。进门再走个五分钟就能见到景区班车站，不坐的话，继续前行，上山的台阶在左边。山门在景区里，那里有吴承恩像，不过上山不是必须从这门过的。
在花果山下，由四只狮子把守，。背面上面写着东胜神州四个字，广场上原来是108只石猴，暗寓36天罡、72地煞，谁知完工却多出了一只。施工单位解释有一只备用的石猴放在库房里，孤独难熬，夜里偷偷溜进了猴群，所以现在这里共有109只，哈哈！施工单位这种解释也行。
花果山是国家重点风景名胜区、国家5A级旅游区、全国文明风景旅游区示范点、全国文明风景旅游区创建先进单位、全国青年文明号、全国重点风景名胜区综合整治先进单位，中国十佳旅游景区等等，所谓的“荣誉”不少，但是总体感觉性价比不高，垄断经营的交通车票贵过了门票，很不合理。反正说好的应该是没见过好的。那个山门纯粹是个人造物体，没什么值得欣赏的。
