Very impressive statue to the writer Miekichi Suzuki who was born in Hiroshima. He was famous for writing a magazine for children where he suggested learning by observation.
I couldn't help thininkg about the Japanese animé called Hotaru no haka (Grave of the fireflies) as there were many children whose parents died during the bombing.

Coming from Europe we had not heard of this writer but reading his story is an interesting stimulus adding personal depth to the area

This is a very sad little memorial commemorating the famous Japanese novelist. He was "lucky" that he died before the bomb was dropped.
