Jilantai Salt Lake

Jilantai Salt Lake is one of the medium and continental salt lakes in my country. It is located in Jilantai Town, 102 kilometers north of Bayanhot Town. "Ji Lantai" is a Mongolian language, meaning sixty. The salt layer of the salt lake covers an area of 60 square kilometers, the whole lake is oval, the average thickness of the salt layer is 3-5 meters, and the thicker part is nearly 6 meters. The salt produced here is commonly known as "Jiyan", which is famous for its large particles, few impurities and strong taste. Jilantai Salt Lake has been mined since the first year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1736) and has a history of 269 years. The salt lake was originally the property of the king of Alxa and Shuote Banner and was nationalized in 1950. Jilantai Salt Lake Landscape is a rare tourism resource in China.
