Primavera Perfume Hotel

A wonderful hotel with everything we need to relax... with excellent conditions and services... staff are very careful and professional... we love the experience, so we will come back more often. We like everything from the room, pools, jacuzzi, breakfast and dinner. It also has the advantage of being a few meters from the Vidago's thermal/bathroom. It's just going up the street. We were 3 nights. Congratulations and thanks for everything. To next!
Hotel Casino Chaves

Currently staying for 2 nights for my birthday weekend. Hotel is super modern. Some signs and wear and tear. Very clean and staff nice. House staff really friendly. Had dinner last evening in-house resturant. Wasn't blown away, quality let it down. Waitress didn't take the order correctly. But that was a good thing. For quality of food it was expensive at €76 for 2 people, and the steak was so tough. Very bad. Chaves itself is super pretty. Would stay at hotel again but not use in-house resturant for more than breakfast.
Casas Novas Countryside Hotel Spa & Events

I was stunned by this hotel. Set in rural Portugal, near the Spanish border, this spa resort is beautiful. Very modern, clean, well equipped throughout, incredibly welcoming staff and superb food in the restaurant. The hotel is the perfect mix of old and new as it is set on an old vineyard, with modern extensions which complement the original 1700's building. Outside the back side is a huge stone terrace which extends the whole width of the 1700's original building with views of the mountains and spa pool and beautiful gardens. The old part of the hotel is magnificent, but we also enjoyed the comfort of our modern room which had a huge terrace overlooking the valley. Everyone working there was friendly and efficient, and the owner spoke English perfectly. I would really recommend this place to anyone visiting northern Portugal. It made for a great relaxing break for my older parents in there 80’s to relax and enjoy the slower pace from Lisbon and before moving on to Porto on a 12 day vacation. The attention to detail and 'nothing's a problem' attitude from everyone we come into contact with is just exceptional. The breakfast is plentiful and has a great selection. We were very happy with the breakfast which offered a large variety of fruit and breads, cheese, ham, several types of jam, as well as cereal and yogurt. The evening meals are so good that you can't stop eating! The manager/owner, Fernando, is the most gracious host that will attend to your every need, while assuring your quality experience is filled with lasting memories and a strong desire to return again. In the evenings we dined in the hotel restaurant. Fernando was truly a phenomenal host, who made us feel welcome. On one of the evenings, he started us off with local sausages and cheese along with some local port from the local vineyard. He made excellent recommendations for our wines and did not disappoint with his selections. The food was delicious. We ate there every night for 4 nights, and everything kept meeting and exceeding our expectations. The beef is something that the region is known for, and it was delicious. Fernando also took us on a tour of the impressive 17th century wine making that uses filtration and gravity. The preservation of the original wine making is located in the lower area that is used for wedding receptions and large parties. The way it is incorporated into the new modern areas was impressive. I will be visiting Portugal in the future and will be re-visiting Fernando's Hotel Rural Casas Novas. We truly enjoyed our stayed here while we visited local vineyards, Chaves and Peneda-Geres National Park.

Hotel Premium Chaves - Aquae Flaviae
4.2/547 Reviews
On our tour in the north of Portugal, we chose to spend one night at the Hotel Premium. The location of the hotel is very central, it is, among other things, very well visited. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and very nice, with equipped with a safe, flat screen TV, etc. For dinner it is not necessary to look outside, because the hotel has a very nice restaurant where you can enjoy delicious food. You can eat at democratic prices and are served very good quality of food. Here again very personable and friendly staff, we opted for the ”Rodizio”, delicious, it had been years ago that we had enjoyed this dish. In short, our stay was super good and certainly worth repeating.
Vidago Palace

I came upon Vidago Palace while browsing through the properties that were included in the Virtuoso Network portfolio. I was immediately attracted to its unique and handsome architecture; the rather remote northern location, I thought, would be a welcome respite after spending the previous nine days in Marrakech and Lisbon. Bonus: there was a “Fourth Night Free” promotion being offered—an excellent value for this Leading Hotel of the World! It isn’t the easiest hotel to get to without a rental car (not on a rail line, and about 80 minutes from OPO), but judging by the information on the hotel’s website, and the reviews here and elsewhere, it seemed that it would be worth it. And it was. In advance of our arrival, I had several email exchanges with the concierge team to discuss transportation options and available tours. The rate we were quoted for the airport transfer seemed exceptionally high, so we used Bolt instead for almost 1/3 the cost. All emails were answered promptly and courteously. After an easy 80-minute drive from OPO with an affable Bolt driver, we turned into the driveway that leads to the hotel…and our jaws dropped. It is a magnificent building with lush, impeccably maintained lawns and gardens, and an atmosphere of times gone by… A pair of friendly bellmen took our luggage and escorted us up the grand staircase to the lobby to check in. Because we booked with a Virtuoso agent, and I’m a LHW Club member, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite. It wasn’t quite ready when we arrived (around 1PM), so we were invited to have lunch on the terrace of the bar. We ambled down a long hallway impressively decorated with a gorgeous wallpaper mural, and then through a sumptuous lounge outfitted in metres of velvet, brocade, tapestry, and fringe. Palace indeed! We ordered cocktails and sandwiches from the delightful Beatriz, and before they were even served we were informed that our room was ready. In my pre-arrival notes, I indicated that I like a corner room on a high floor, so I was delighted to discover that Junior Suite 208 was exactly that. With soaring twelve-foot ceilings, It’s more like an actual suite, however, as it has a small sitting room that can be closed off from the bedroom. In that room you have a daybed, a small coffee bar, and a wall-mounted television. There were four sets of French doors that could be opened onto delicate Juliet balconies; they were framed in a heavy and opulent brocade. The bedroom had a king sized bed with butter-soft linens, a cocktail table with armchair, a desk with straight chair, another television, a BOSE radio, and a pair of nightstands. We greatly appreciated the ample storage that was provided by two closets with lots of shelves, drawers, and hanging space. The large marble clad bathroom also had French doors directly in front of the soaking tub, double sinks, heavy monogrammed towels, and a terrific range of toiletries by Molton Brown. The temperatures during our stay were so comfortable t
