Beef Liver Mafei Gorge is located in Yichang. After passing through Xintan on a cruise ship, two ochre yellow rocks hang down from the rock wall on the north bank of the Yangtze River. One of them is shaped like a beef liver and the other is shaped like a horse's lung, so it is called "" Beef Liver and Horse Lung Gorge". The Beef Liver and Horse Lung Gorge is next to the Bingshu Baojian Gorge. It is a stalactite formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate in the groundwater. The canyon is surrounded by green hills like daisies, majestic cliffs, waterfalls hanging on the banks, verdant trees, and there is a fairy peak on the south bank. Below the peak is the Jiuwan River. Now the "beef liver" remains as it is, but the lower part of the "horse lung" was destroyed by the bombardment of the British imperialist warships that invaded the Xiling Gorge in the 26th year of the Guangxu year of the Qing Dynasty (1900). Therefore, we can no longer See the whole picture of beef liver and horse lung gorge.
